I know how you feel mate. In the past i really never used to give it a second thought but nowadays if ive been off a weeki find myself not sleeping prop the night before thinking about how many boxes of d2d will be stacked around the frame and what crap i will walk into.heapsy wrote:Last day of freedom before returning to work. Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Back in today and back to the usual (at least now that the revision has come in) late finishes. Told the gaffer I would be as "quick as I can* and all he said was "alright mate*. I honestly think he is completely shocked by what has hit him, I really do. I must admit that I didn't know what the other lad got up to on my walk last week, but didn't get 1 gripe from the DOM about how the other bloke got round quicker/ booked less ot etc etc. Someone on my round told me they saw him out late, whcih kind of pleased me in a wierd, warped, sort of way.
. Ah well, maybe they actually believe me now.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Busiest Monday at our place in the 11 months I've been there. Census, council tax, water rates, screwfix, digital switchover gumph. Everyone leaving 30 mins to 1 hour later than normal. Lapsing requests seemed to be simply ignored by most. There was new lad standing around between 9-10 and then sent out to mop up what was left.
Crazy day, but at least the sun was out

Too many gaps. Lost my count towards the end of one bag which resulted in a double misdelivery, including a small packet. No doubt one of them will complain - not my frigging fault I'm not perfectly perfect in every way. Sod's law that no-one was home in either house. Nowt I can do about it now except sleep

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Good day mail wise, got finished bang on time.
However, i was taken into the office before leaving for delivery, apparently my gaffer was a tad upset that i hadn't delivered 5 D2Ds on my walk last week, as in i'd completely missed 5 houses on a street with D2D. He began giving me some spiel about this being an "instant dismissal" and "As-good-as-fraud" and how some guy they had before who was full-time and had 16 years service was fired for missing only 9 but that he'd "let it slide THIS TIME". What the hell?! I have 709 calls on my f***ing duty, and i miss five and he gives me this s**t?! Is he allowed to do this? Is this a reasonable reaction? Surely it can't be. I was shafted nearly everyday last week, and i'm only human, i make mistakes but apparently ANY sort of mistake in this god-forsaken company, no matter how minor, is good enough reason for you to get you the sack.
Hate them all, fed up.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
At WTL today, we had a guest. "This is A***** from Counters" said the lino. "He's going to tell us what he does".
Then followed a prolonged sales pitch for RM financial products, insurance, credit cards, etc. With the lino occasionally chipping in with comments such as "ooh, that's good" or "sounds like a good deal there". We were trapped. A captive audience. We couldn't leave so we had to sit there, blank-faced, until he finished. And then, with a handing out of business cards to everyone, it was over. Anyone else experienced this? It's a new one on us.

Shambles as always. Waiting over an hour for a lift out! Managed to floor it around the walk and get done in a reasonable time, just after two.

Looks like they are trying to drum up business down your way.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

PMSL, they'd have lasted about 5 minutes with us heckling them............wouldn't be the first time I got thrown out of a WTLL for opening my mouthThorby Bislam wrote:At WTL today, we had a guest. "This is A***** from Counters" said the lino. "He's going to tell us what he does".

I'd have said "Sorry I'm PT, so I got FA money to save, can't afford to get in a hole with credit cards, etc, etc, anyway, I'd get a better deal from t'internet comparison sites & I get my financial advice from Martyn Lewis when he pops up on 5Live.....now, as this company is as skint as I am, I'm off to throw out so RM can get it's best value out of meDGP1 wrote:PMSL, they'd have lasted about 5 minutes with us heckling them............wouldn't be the first time I got thrown out of a WTLL for opening my mouthThorby Bislam wrote:At WTL today, we had a guest.
