http://wheresthebenefit.blogspot.com/20 ... um=twitter" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Beryl's story: Collapsed lung? You still can't have ESA http://www.whywaitforever.com/dwpatospress.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... The Department of Health said it became clear that Atos Origin, a private firm supplying the NHS with diagnostic services in north-west and south-west England, was "not in a position to meet" the terms of its contract....

http://www.strongerunions.org/2010/11/0 ... ives-atos/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I agree , you will get professional compo claimers , and old soldiers working their ticket ; everyone knows who they are but they are in the minority , and to insinuate on very vague grounds that everyone is at it is offensive - it's a place of work - not prison or the army - though you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise with RM's poor culture !; with another union , a rep called " Seagull Dawson " for obvious reasons used to find holes and fall in them , £500 ( a lot of money then :Very Happy ) & six weeks off , jobs a good 'un . There was people who'd accidents " at work " when everyone knew they'd had them earlier when they were drunk .

There was also staff that got assaulted or their workplaces robbed a bit too often , playing the system for compo too .

RM has them too , people having falls , the tailgate / ramps not lifted up properly on wagons and let's say , some people were not exactly too upset . I've seen people do the old banger shunt and " whiplash injuries " motoring accidents " routine , or conveniently get knocked off their bikes - however RM has the highest rate for musco - skeletal injuries in the country .

Simpson and Miller were getting £4 Million in compo money for the union - whether RM liked it or not ...The CWU were doing their job , RM were threatened with investigation by the Health & Safety Executive , so the goalposts got moved , accidents became " incidents " , a senior insurance claims assessor said he'd never heard such absolute b***ocks in his life ; everything was the posties " fault " , if he / she got bitten by Fido ...it was because he / she didn't have a HV vest on  ; if someone claimed for certified back injuries , managers would close ranks with incredible memory recall and swear blind that the postie lifted the bag up wrong to teach the postie a lesson to not make trouble for RM .

The managers giving lectures on being more careful usually had very colourful sick records themselves ...with some amazing " coincidences " too i.e. " flu " when moving house ....p*** poor management , poor motivational / leadership and people skills ...there has to be good will ...if you don't have that ...you'll naturally get the screw 'em for every penny minority . To add " credibility " RM now use the cowboy quacks ATOS Origin to fire their bullets . Many of their doctors have been struck off / had drink problems / been " retired " / have poor english / badly trained or untrained anyway .

It depends if you tolerate necessary evils or not ...that's human nature ....if you go holier / purer than thou and assume the moral high ground ...you should expect to be contradicted / challenged . As for " morality " the obscene bonuses for RM's Exec / Senior Management giving the orders to don't give ATOS and the " little bonus fiddles " for their subordinates need to be looked into .

Royal Mail treat us lke lemmins. As soon as they need to get rid of a few, they push us over the cliff and then make a few more when they are needy.

ATOS is a pile of rubbish and a waste of post office money..
What the hell can a RETIRED reject doctor tell the post office all about you in an interview that probably lasts 10minutes??
If the post office want to know more about your illness or condition why dont they ask your own GP who actually knows you and you have visited with your illness than some jumped up retired rejected doctor, who is getting paid highly to ask you pathetic questions, who knows nothing about you or the work that you do and the organisation that you work in. :arrrghhh
WASTE OF POST OFFICE MONEY ,, THERE ARE YOUR SAVINGS TAKE OUT ATOS AND SPEAK TO THE REAL PEOPLE THE ONES THAT DIAGNOSE US IN OUR OWN DOCTORS SURGERY AND SIGN THE SICK CERTIFICATE,, ATOS IS SUPERFICIAL AND THEY ARE THERE TO PUT THE FRIGHTENERS ON PEOPLE... BULLYS!! :no no

RM / ATOS work on the basis that you've a " good doctor " ....Ok , I've read " Postman Plod " in " Viz " with the Postie saying he couldn't take a round out because he was teeing off with his Doctor soon ....that's just satire with gross stereotypes to be taken with a pinch of salt by most ...those doctors are in the minority ....My calf on one leg went like jelly due to all the works kit I'd to carry round with another union ....I didn't get any time off , though it needed rest , had to limp round , it was embarrassing ; people thinking you were putting in on or was a cripple ; and had to take these pain killers till the pain went up and disappeared ...that took weeks ...he was one of those doctors ...that everyone had to be like him ...if people mentioned him to senior nurses ....they said " Oh Dear ! " ....a lot of them think Doctors are ar**holes ....I think I saw him in the local rag having been disciplined by the General Medical Council

http://dwpexamination.wordpress.com/are ... y-doctors/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Rumor has it that the DWP use retired or semi retired hasbeensDoctors from any section of medicine they can find, when they cant manage that they trawl for the dregs of Europe and the eastern world. This makes matters worse, as the European, Asian, oriental (other) Doctors (who may have English as their second language) who wont cant find employment in their own country (strangely) have difficulty in communicating with claimants particularly where local dialects are broad and thus may be misunderstood by the alleged Doctor.

Presumably the reason for the DWP /ATOS Healthcares’ inability to recruit outside of the range of retired/foreign ‘Doctors’ is that any self respecting good Doctor would not touch the DWP with a ten foot barge pole and risk damage to their credibility so early in their career. However, once past the NHS training stage, many ‘Doctors’ work within the NHS, then gravitate either to specialising or private practice, from which they retire early with a lump sum and pension. It is no surprise then that the DWP tempt the most narcissistic of these with the prospect of £1,500 per week, on top of their pensions, with protection for prosecution from malpractice and a position of extreme power!

They're only interested in GP / Consultant / Specialist etc reports / notes if they can find so called inconsistencies and a supposed " cure " ...most of the time they try to be too clever by half for Brownie Points and get it wrong . RM talk about " removing the barriers " ...translated into plain English ...it means RM can afford the insurance and are banking on you not making another injury claim . They're only interested in getting staff through the door by whatever means as cheaply as possible . http://dwpexamination.wordpress.com/rum ... d-hearsay/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This post from rightsnet is interesting

As a postman was examined by ATOS (they do medicals for the Royal Mail also, but the Royal Mail pay the bill for those) and the doctor found him unfit for work, with lots of problems etc, yet shortly later when he needed to claim benefits, he was again sent to ATOS, but this time the DWP were paying the bill, suprise suprise, the ATOS doctor awarded him 0 points and regarded him fit for work..

They’re definately rattled. I recently saw an Atos Origin report for a post office employee, (Dr’s typed signature), but that had an authoratitive paragraph attached as per ECA 2000. The report said he had almost no mobility, difficulty getting out of a chair, difficulty bending and carrying so he got medically retired as a postman. DWP medical by Atos Origin gave nil points. Very strange. Anyway told the local DWP office and they fell about laughing. Have sent in the Post Office medical report and asked them to reconsider their decision. “

It is " legal " on paper ...an Occupational Health Specialist can overrule your GP etc as apparently he doesn't know your job ...in reality that's usually absolute BS ...a line is just for National Insurance Purposes BUT in theory it should stand up in court / tribunal .

The BRF ( Business Referral Form ) has set RM questions which require the desired RM answers ...again you get Managers thinking they are being clever looking for Brownie Points ...in one instance it was an idiot of a manager that RM wanted rid of as he often stank of drink , never mind all this always in the gym nonsense ...he was sweating the booze off . ATOS involvement is purely for " credibility " bent to look " straight " .....Also take care to translate some of the RM set questions that are couched in corporate speak into English ....i.e. mentions of tribunal judgements means " trouble maker " , " loose cannon " ...make things difficult / get rid

If anyone has serious problems with RM / ATOS hacks ...see the Area Rep or the Branch Secretary ....they can get the Unions legal people to put an appeal in , if necessary the Union will get a panel together ...NOT comprised of jobbing struck off hacks who are jacks of all trades and masters of none .

The Union need to know about rogue managers / ATOS Hack " HCP's " so they can mark his or her cards ....chances are you won't be the only one so they'll have his / her number for next time .
