royal fail are laughing at you and you keep bending over and taking it.MUGS.
Why?

Easy to to say if you work in an MC and are not the last link in a very long chain.

I suggested my mate not to do OT if he won't get paid for it.. misguided as our loyalties migh be.

I will only extend if I'm going to be paid for it, and a lot of the time our OT is caused by late lorries.. even asked the manager if he can book our OT against MC.

"Divide and Conquer" springs to mind as there have been been extremely heated arguements and a few fisty cuffs between MC drivers and us boys out in the sticks who nobody gives a flying FCUK about.. it's their budget versus ours and it stinks!!!

my point is if your stupid or gutless enough you can work as much UNPAID overtime as you wish but royal fail CANNOT make you work over for nothing so advise your mate to grow a set and tell your manager where to shove it.as for the mc/do chestnut i can state that as a 740 cf driver that the only reason mail doesn't reach delivery offices on time is because of non attendence, cutbacks, management incompetence, heavy traffic/accidents or vehicle failure and we DO NOT arrive late on purpose as we have a tacho in the van and also a tracking device so we would get it in the neck if a failure was our fault.if a van arrives late and this impacts on your delivery time then inform your manager that you will not have time to deliver it all and see what he/she says.

Sounds like you at least know what you're doing every day, Good for you. :Applause
I don't wish to subscribe to the "Us and Them" debate, however all this talk of "Grow a set" is total bollocks (pun intended!), and to suggest a fellow wage slave is "Gutless" is out of order! :no no
Delivery Offices are a total Can of Worms and no two are alike, I would not presume to lecture either Deliver or Mail Centres about what they should, or should not, be doing. Until you've worked in these Disorganised, Demoralised, Unmotivated and Totally Disinterested places of work, please refrain from lecturing! Most of us simply haven't a clue about what's happening in the neighbouring offices, and that's the way Royal Fail like it, this site at least gives an insight into what's going on. Let's not use it as an arena to beat each other up. :hmmmm

i HAVE worked in a delivery office for many years and my experience of it tells me why deliveries are are so "disorganised, unmotivated and totally disintersted" (i was one myself until i transferred into distribution) :nana because a lot of staff can not or will not stand up for themselves.
contrary to wot most delivery staff think, working in processing and distribution is no bed of roses but it is only because MOST staff will stand together against management tossers means we are not hassled as much as the divided workforce in delivery offices.
as for the gutless comment i by no means aimed it at this down trodden INDIVIDUAL,it was aimed at ALL the gutless staff who won't stand up to management B+H. :arrrghhh

I suppose its easy to stand upto management if you have a full time contract.

However if you are part time and actually competing with your colleagues for overtime its a different matter.

As for helping slow colleague well thats up to you the one thing i am dreading about park and loop is being paired with someone i don't get on with or who works at totally different pace than me.

Comeracing,

Overtime is voluntary.

Are you feeling pressured to do overtime?

maybe its time to start working WITH your colleagues and see were that takes you because competing against them has gotten you into a right hole.

It was a joke to a certain extent, I certainly wasn't advocating starting early.
However many people seem to think that coming in early means they can avoid the B&H that goes with not completing.
But elsewhere "skull" has posted that early starting has been stopped by managers. Either you can do the job or you can't.
It seems now management have cottoned on to this.
For the lazy and the incompetent there may not be anywhere left to hide.
