Royal Mail data chief to depart

Royal Mail head of data strategy Keith Jones is to leave the organisation to join credit risk agency Graydon as its UK managing director.

Jones joined Royal Mail in 2009 and was charged with improving the business’s data assets and develop products and services to deliver increased value to marketers.

During his tenure Royal Mail has added new functionality and flexibility to its National Change of Address (NCOA) portfolio by expanding the NCOA stable to include broader, more responsive data quality products and services.
In October, Royal Mail launched NCOA Alert, a new data service to provide companies with extra insight to help them to better tackle identity fraud.

Royal Mail also launched an updated Home Movers Mailing Service enhanced with additional insight and directly available to resellers for the first time.

Jones says: “Royal Mail’s brand trust and market reach has been a fantastic platform on which to build a data business that helps marketers create even more efficient and effective direct mail campaigns. My focus has been on maximising the value of Royal Mail’s data assets and developing new products that help our customers in their every day business needs. Royal Mail has improved its portfolio of services to help marketers manage their own data quality more effectively as well as reach new customers.”

Royal Mail says that it will replace Jones, who leaves at the end of April.

Privatisation of the organisation is closer as the Postal Services Bill was approved by MPs in January.
