£7B, divided by 145k employees equals £4.8k with £40M left over in RM's bank - do I understand you correctly? Assuming RM has £7B worth of liquid assests ( cash, stocks, shares, trusts, etc as opposed to solid assets such as land, property, vehicles, machinery, equipment, etc ) what leads you to believe that RM will divvy it out on a fair basis to everyone, rather than according to pay grade, ie OPGs getting £500, LMs getting £1500, DOMs getting £5000, etc, and once all the liquid assets have been divvyed up, where is the diesel for our vans coming from, the electric for the lights, radios, PCs and kettles, the corporation tax for the business, council tax and rent for all the buildings, all the insurance premiums, and probably most important of all, where's my bloody pay ( how can I pay for my rent, council tax, electric, petrol, insurance, etc ).

In all honesty I have no idea what the percentage for a business is, but at any one time the majority of value is going to be tied up in fixed assets, so even %50 of liquid assets is going to be very useful to us, but a lot will be tied up with overheads like fuel, energy, supplies, labour costs, so 25% might be nearer the mark, but any company that likes trading will keep some money in reserve "for a rainy day" ( and for RM we seem to be in monsoon season ), so maybe 12.5%....but RM seems to be in a permanant state of financial s**t state, so 6.25%, or round it down to 5% ( cos you don't want to spunk a load of cash to the plebs, then go to Dave & George in Downing Street to pawn Moya's wedding ring for the wage bill ), so lets just call it £250 for the shares ( that'd be for the full value, not splitting it into two parts )

All of the above is very rough, just the sort of thing you'd find on the back of a fag packet, and I'm happy for those percentages to be challenged, but if we get more be thankful some bean counter screwed up.
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

i was under the impression that the 'shares' issued were only worth a percentage of RM's worth i.e. RM retained 70% of the 'value' and issued 'shares' on the remaining 30% of its value... does that make sense?

Astonishing stuff, my post was tongue in cheek, cant believe the replies on here.
Do you guys EVER switch off !!! and leave the running of rm to the people that are paid to manage and get stressed
I cant believe people live in so tiny worlds.
Their is a huge joyous one waiting for you when you finish ya duty.
I dont care if rm is worth 7bn or 700bn, and if we get a quid or 10000 quid for the shares.
Start working to live, and not living to work
Its all a lot more fun
Amen

I always thought that the so-called 'Colleague Shares' were a con and we wouldn't get much, if anything, for them.
So I'm not expecting anything, and if we do get some dosh it will be a pleasant surprise. :cuppa

Surely all posties should get these shares, if they are employed by Royal mail at the time of issue, not just the ones who were in employment back in 2007 (if that's the year I read that is a pre-requisite for entitlement)?

Edit: It appears 2007 was the date of issue... So why have employees that have started since then not been entitled to join the scheme?

How do you know if you have got these shares? When did they come out? I started in 2009 and am unsure what its all about. Did they come out before I started or was it an automatic thing?
