Re: Census dates
We already have 8 yorks on MS3 in the office for monday morning plus 19 yorks of censusEric Cantona wrote:By the way there will be no mail sort three in your office Monday Tuesday and Wednesday so therefore the managers will play on the fact its light today.
Mailsort three will be back with a vengeance on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Prepare for the worst ladies and gents.
We are in for a battering near the end of the week.

thought that was superseded by new agreement?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Its the ones with an M printed where the stamp should go - instead of a 1 or a 2 (these are Mailsort 1 and Mailsort 2 usually)RedBagMan wrote:Pardon my ignorance ... but what exactly IS "Mailsort three" ? Re: Census dates
So does anyone know why some poor sods, like our office, have 3 days to deliver the census and other d.o's have a week?

Re: Census dates
They are not meant to have a week, it willbe a case of a manager decsing to go above and beyond the specification for delivery. That may be in breach of contract.

Re: Census dates
It doesn't sound like a contractual obligation Daz...more like an attempt to get them out of the way before the amount of other mail makes it impossible to carry them.Big Daz wrote:They are not meant to have a week, it willbe a case of a manager decsing to go above and beyond the specification for delivery. Delivery of the items in England and Wales is due to commence from Monday the 7th March with the items targeted for delivery on the 7th, 8th and 9th to avoid the heaviest delivery days of the week.
30% of them won't be in until the following week anyway.
Not that i care,I'm in Scotland,not on a rural so won't get them.....no offence.

Re: Census dates
No if your Saturdays are significantly shorter (think thats the term in SDD) then MS3 can be left - No agreement has changed this except the BT2010 which has made Saturdays normal working days.SWIM wrote:thought that was superseded by new agreement?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Its the ones with an M printed where the stamp should go - instead of a 1 or a 2 (these are Mailsort 1 and Mailsort 2 usually)RedBagMan wrote:Pardon my ignorance ... but what exactly IS "Mailsort three" ? Therefore if your saturdays remain shorter than the rest of the week and you have not been DM'd then the SDD agreement still holds for this particular practice.

Re: Census dates
Our mailsort is still held on a Saturday despite us having the DM revision and Saturday being a "normal" working day.
This is because despite Royal Mail's attempts to make it a normal working day it never will be.
Hands up who fancies a bit of extended...Mon-Fri?.

Re: Census dates
30% due the week after????? All my Census mail has been stuck under my bay ready for delivery on Monday.... looks like 100% of it if you ask me! Add the 5 yes 5!!! d2d and 3 yorkies of MailSort catologues from today and I feel sick with the thought of what Monday is going to be like :(fishtank wrote:It doesn't sound like a contractual obligation Daz...more like an attempt to get them out of the way before the amount of other mail makes it impossible to carry them.Big Daz wrote:They are not meant to have a week, it willbe a case of a manager decsing to go above and beyond the specification for delivery. Just going by what the LTB said Indy.Indy wrote: 30% due the week after????? All my Census mail has been stuck under my bay ready for delivery on Monday.... looks like 100% of it if you ask me! It is expected that 70% of all items will be available for delivery this week in England and Wales with the remaining 30% (plus the remote parts of Scotland) being available for delivery on the 14th, 15th and 16th March. N.Ireland will have its own arrangements with all items being delivered w/c 14th March which will account for about 750k – 800k of the items.

Yup, understood. thanks Fishtank just that coming back to the office this morning to see all that work piled high for Monday means I'm going to have a shite 'rest of' the weekend coz I know that we're going to be driven like slaves to get this work out with threats and general harassment. I MIGHT be wrong BUT experience tells me.... not :(

Re: Census dates
Monday Morning. Come in at the right time, take your break, put your door to doors together (if you have any) weigh your bags to the correct weight, break them down if you have to, fill in the weights on the signing on sheet. leave the office at the time you are supposed to. don't go over. tell D.O.M in reasonable time you can't finish and your not going over ask him/her what they intend to do about it and walk away awaiting a result. don't get in to a confrontation or swear. If possible have a witness beside you just to listen because he/she will intimidate you. absolute nothing they can do about it.
Have good weekend don't think about it.

If I were to say that my DOMS manager appears to be 'scared' of this DOM I think it kinda puts things in perspective

Re: Census dates
Not impressed with the "powers that be" who decided to give me a week of no D2D this week just gone (albeit lots of marketing rubbish like Nectar pretty much made up for it), but then four D2D (including one that includes businesses) for the cencus week!
A re-write of Morrisey's old song to "Everday is like Friday" springs to mind, I'll be damned if I'm doing any cut-offs or abs o/t next week out of principle more than anything, that lack of planning more than extracts the urine...

Re: Census dates
Four for me too, and likewise a one-for-all (residentials and businesses). Forty hours wouldn't be enough for the amount of work I've got on my fitting already for next week. I also think that the managers expect us part-timers to prep our own censuses into our fitting when we arrive in the morning, as well as the missorts, as well as doing our redirections and prepping our four d2ds. They're a very clever bunch.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:but then four D2D (including one that includes businesses) for the cencus week!![]()
