Forest villagers petition Royal Mail against changing their first class male http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8890177 ... tie_Chris/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
VILLAGERS say the Royal Mail made a first-class delivery when postman Chris Jones arrived in the community 14 months ago.
Families living in Minstead in the New Forest gave him a stamp of approval for providing a friendly service, keeping his speed down on narrow country lanes and carefully shutting gates behind him to prevent ponies getting into people’s gardens.
But the popular postie who kept deliveries going in the snow is in danger of being transferred to Totton and replaced by one of his colleagues under a reallocation of duties.
Now villagers are hoping his bosses will make it a red letter day for Minstead by agreeing to keep him in the area.
Customers at the village shop have raised a 98-name petition in a bid to prevent him being moved on.
Amanda Bentley-Buckle, who has lived in the village for 19 years, said: “Chris is reliable, trustworthy, and everyone likes him.
“Basically he’s a very nice chap who keeps an eye out for everyone. We don’t want him to go and I don’t think he wants to go either.”
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “It’s always pleasing when delivery staff are held in such high regard.
“We are confident that whoever delivers the mail in Minstead after the changes are made will provide an excellent service.”

Your not kidding, the comments on there seem to portray him as a moaning, mailingering, strike breaker who played the bosses and rules to get himself a cushy job. Wonder what the true picture isWessex wrote:The comments on the Evening Echo's website make for interesting reading.
