So far our union officers once they knew the strength of the support (and this was not guaranteed), seem to have got the IA tactics spot on. They have delivered on the promises made to us, IA with the minimum of financial hardship to the workforce and suspension of IA whilst meaningful talks take place. The tactics and two big fat ACES have forced :lfo :cfo round the negotiating table so let's give 'em a chance to negotiate. The ACES? Ninety eight per cent rock solid angry support for IA plus loads of unofficial up and down the UK. Public opinion is ACE no 2 the public are behind us ordinary posties and that's why the press have also swung behind us. They've changed their tune because if they print something different to what their readers want to read what will happen to their sales? They'll go down cos' their readers will buy a paper which says what they want to hear. I got moan after moan this morning coz' we weren't out on strike. This from an office that didn't blink an eye two years ago when managers ruled the roost(no Rep) My Gals and Guys are waiting to vote. If it's good they'll vote yes and if it's bad they'll vote no. If talks break down we'll be through the doors again. For F**cks sake give the man a chance to do his job!!!!!!!!!!!----------------KAWAK

no problem with the man doing his job , no problem with talks. I do have a problem with "sod off minnows while the big boys have a chat,cosy or not". WE are cut out of the loop, disregarded,put in our place,our betters will decide our futures in camera. Maybe i'm a weirdo, but i believe our representatives should be open and accountable every step of the way. If you take people for granted they wont always be there however just the cause. If RM dont agree to open ' public talks ' fine IA continues , we've got nothing to hide.

The way forward again, piece by piece Royal Mail will pick off pockets of the union. Well done Billy and Dave, never saw it coming. Is that our ship coming aland with captain Keggie?

That's the way agreements are usually negotiated. The CWU team meets the RM team,
sometimes through a third party such as the TUC or ACAS.
They will report the progress of the talks and the final agreement to the Postal Executive Committee
who are elected by us. The PEC can ask for clarification of anything that is not clear,
and can instruct the negotiators to seek to change anything they don't like. Once the negotiators
have reached what they believe is the final proposals, and don't think they can get anything more through
negotiations it will be up to the PEC to decide whether the proposed agreement is acceptable or not.
If thet believe it is acceptable, or the best that is achievable through negotiation they will recommend
acceptance to us, through a ballot. If not they will have to recommend further Industrial Action.
It would be impossible for the negotiators to inform everyone of everything that is being discussed
even if they wanted to.
We did elect these people, and we have to put a certain amount of trust in them.
