Re: Why start early?
At our delivery office the start time is either 0530 -1330 or in the rear unit where they dont do inward sorting because they have a night sorter their time is 0600 - 1400.
Now the ones at the rear unit keep saying their efficient (not) because they can start half hour later and finish two hours before on an average, then go home but they dont seem to realise that as the manager is constantly looking at collapsing duties rather than employing fulltime staff to cover existing duties, these IDIOTS are not contributing to the unemployment figures in the country, as people like me will never get a full time vacancy due to the selfish attitudes these people have within them. Some of these guys have been asked to go back out and do part deliveries on other rounds, but dont do it and basically tell the manager to naff off. One main question i ask to only sensible people is the basic contract that is signed to any company on our land that you are required to work what is on your contract for your pay? and if you didnt adhere to the contract i thought the basic procedure would be company defraudment as you havent fullfilled your contractual terms ? And what is the problem about doing an 8 hour day? It aint that your away from home for a long time and if these people want to work 5-6 hours aday then why dont they get themselves a part time job rather than hogging up a ffull time duty. These people are selfish and are just cans of fuel for management!!!
Vacancies have been advertised at our depot and i was successfull for one of them in the rear unit, only to be told after a week after being awarded the vacancy that the manager is going to chop it up and make the "sefish" do it so he can save another 48 hours into his pocket!!! HOW YOU DOIN??????

Re: Why start early?
P&L has been binned in our office but we still use the vans. I take one out most days and when I get back to the office there are no managers there, that's anything from 12.30 on a light day to 2pm on a busy day. Staying until time doesn't happen because the office is emptyenzio wrote:well good luck to the one who still get job and finish make the most of it while you can.when park and loop comes to your office you wont get any time out of it as you have to go back to the office. but what really stuped is even with park and loop in our office there are still ones that come in early what the f### is that about.
Fwiw at least 30-40% of staff in my office come in early (I dont cos I can get out at the same time anyway) -yet we've not only had P&L binned in favour of a much better TT revision, we've also just had 17 new starters to fill the vacant duties that would have disappeared under P&L.
Maybe some offices are just doormats and like to blame anything but themselves for being bent over and shafted,

Re: Why start early?
Park&loop has been binned in your office because in the offices that it has been introduced the majority of staff did the job properly and showed the system up as being costly and inefficient.
I dread to think what would have happened if it was introduced in an office full of early starters and "corner cutters".
I have heard the "If they do that i won't start early" from plenty of windbags and big talkers...but then i heard the same bollocks when they introduced "lapsing"...and all that happened was they came in even earlier and took even less of their break.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Why start early?
I can understand why people start early. I just don't think many of them realise that they're working MORE hours than me, despite finishing earlier than me. For instance, there's a guy next to me who comes in at 8am, and finishes most days at 1.10pm. He doesn't take a break. So he works five hours and ten minutes for five hours pay. I start at 9am, I finish at 2pm. I take a half an hour break. So I work four and a half hours for five hours pay (in essence, obviously the meal relief is a quirk here but it is my personal time and I can use it how I like). So, although he gets home an hour earlier than me, I'm perfectly happy. I get an extra hour of sleep in a morning, I do my d2ds in my duty time (he takes his home). Fair play to him for getting home an hour before me but the math doesn't really make it appeal to me as being a superior lifestyle to mine.

Also if you are going to complain about members calling people names then STOP it yourself. For instance in this thread you posted "The jobsworths" which you used in the same vein as "Idiots" why is yours right and his wrong.

If the mech is sorted - if the IPS is sorted - if the missorts are sorted (
) - in effect if the office is "clear" - what's the point of hanging around ???
Better out than in I say ...

Re: Why start early?
Calspy, what would you do if a manager spots you at home 2 hours early. Fast forward next day its quizzed and an extra row is eventually fitted on your frame?
As far as I am aware you are also not covered on health and safely grounds if you come in voluntarily early.
IE accident = not insured, should not have been there.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
