Is a "fluffer" not a young lady employed in the porn industry to ensure the male porn stars remain"interested" between takes?

That's what I thought but I suppose with jobs so scarce you have to do whatever to keep it

[quote="calpsy"]In our office and the ones either side of it ( postcodes ) We all finish when we post last letter .

I'm pleased to say we finish when the last letter is posted as well ( post revision office ), it just seems common sense to me . Not every manager is a hard arse and some offices can run with the "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours " attitude . The only downside , it does encourage the less conscientious posties to cut corners but this is in their nature and even if they were made to stay to the death they would still cut corners then probably go and hide somewhere . Once the missorts have been cleared we are allowed to go , it can be any time between 08.45 and 10.00 . I'm sorry to say we don't have any of the " just do the job to spec " brigade sitting there with their arms folded at 09.00 saying " no I'm not moving till the clock strikes 10.00 ( is it 10.00 ?) , soon as the word goes out that we can go nearly everyone is off like a shot . Some posties have their brake before they leave the office , some have the breaks out on the job and some work through their brakes and if needs be add it onto the overtime sheet . The " work the hours your paid " crap lasted about two weeks until common sense prevailed . There is no better incentive than saying to any working person " once you have finished you can go home . Like I said " you scratch my back and i'll scratch yours .

I understand that someone who comes in early and has to work till their hours WOULD be stupid . As i dont then i dont understand the problem some people have .

I start half an hour early i finish half an hour earlt . SIMPLES ! ! :left:
What would happen if you began half an hour early as you say, found it to be a very busy day.....that took you to your proper finishing time to complete your duty? In most offices i think the manager would just say as you chose to begin early you couldn't claim overtime,so you would have worked half an hour for free! Or.........?

A manager might see you work that time for nothing , but when you have finished 30-45 minutes early on sat , mon and tuesday , anyone would be a crazy to complain . Common sense mixed with swings and roundabouts .

Any manager who knew you finished 30-45 minutes early on Sat,Mon and Tues would be crazy not to see the potential for lapsing duties.

Where to start? Jesus Calspy you rattled a few cages mate :Very Happy I understand what you say and have argued that point before i.e come in one hour early, go home one early = same result. As mentioned before we've got 1500 DOs (hopefully) and they're all different. Think your time might come though when you get Poop n Scoop.

Skulls argument doesn't really apply to PT staff who have no "Swings and Roundabouts" more like "Slides and Slides"! They're only paid for the hours they actually work, no making up an hour and a half a day COSTING RM NEARLY A FULL DAYS PAY A WEEK TO SIT ON THEIR ARSES AT HOME! (yes I am shouting) I'm not bitter :whistle

As Clash warns if your DIM knew how much money/hours he could claw back he'd probably wet his pants. Most DIMs have been ordered to utilise all available contracted hours. So if you came back into our DO an hour early, regardless of starting early, the DIM would say, "You've got an hours work to do load up with a load of packets and get out again" and for once I would back him all the way. What would be your answer to him? Answers on a postcode please... It keeps us in work. :Very Happy

It isn't rocket science.

It's easy to generalise that every office is run like crap and every RM manager is an arse but this isn't the case I'm afraid . I feel sorry for anybody that is stuck in a crap office but if some people are in a good office whats wrong with them having a few perks . To come across with this holier than thou attitude is a bit extreme . After a bit of time reading these forums it is easy to get in that mind set . Try to look at both sides of the discussion and ask yourself " would I really stay at work for 45 mins after posting the last letter if I didn't have to , if the answer is yes then fire away .

Yes but when this happens you then start working to your time . Believe it or not some managers are pretty decent people and would prefer to see a happy office than an office utilised to save every single penny .

If posties are getting home early 1.5 hours a day that would be a bit extreme and from a business sense something should be done . I for one would be very jealous but good luck to anyone who is and long may it continue . We are on p&l and I'm talking about finishing 30 mins early ( give or take ) on sat , mon and tuesday , the rest of the week we have no chance and go over and then overtime is booked . So at the moment we are still on the winning side . Things might change and we might have to start working the hours we are paid , RM are so unreasonable :chuckle .

Come in early/car users/no break (thought i'd throw them in as well) they just don't don't get it.

Now because of the above certain things have happened to mine and several duties in my office.
Short of giving the rep a good kickin,or calling a meeting where those that are not affected will say f**k all,or those affected can't be bothered,i'm stuck in this situation.
I will just have to go down the bullying by management route which WILL happen and i'm 100% sure of that.

There are other things i could do but i've lost the will with the s**t i work with.
Bring on P&L and get ready for tears at my place.

Streets of gold my f***ing arse!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Regarding people getting the ok to finish early . In my five previous jobs and this one , I've never seen anyone stay at work and come out with the statement " If you go early this will come back and bight you on the arse " . Now lets turn the table , when people are made to stay and have no other option , it must be easy to preach " though shall not finish early " . Is it a case of the green eyed monster ? .
