Had a mass sit in yesterday and was told to leave the building, one of the girls had unfair disciplinary action taken about her even though a previous meeting with the rep and manager agreed there was no case to answer, anyway this morning was a pisser, junior boss monkey had us all around the packet frame with a back to work meeting, first he says there will be no more overtime...BIG CHEER
...then he says there will be no more friday night sorting...BIG CHEER
...then he says nobody will be allowed to go out on delivery until everybody is ready, so come the time when everybodys ready to go out theres 3 walks still not ready, so rep asks monkey boy what do you want us to do, monkey boy says no, no carry on weve got those sorted, what a useless t***er, hes supposed to have a degree, i think its in being an a***hole, he needs a degree in life.

A few quick and basic facts on the reason for the sit in;
3 people were taken out late by a manager
All 3 informed the manager that they would not be able to complete delivery before leaving the office and when getting off the van.
All 3 were told to cut off at the appropriate time.
All 3 went into the office upon returning and informed [POSTMAN EDIT:NO NAMES] (manager) of what they had bought back.
Nothing was said to the 2(males) who bought the most back (1 bag full each)and were dropped off 1st by the manager.
The girl who stayed out 10 mins past her time and only bought 1 bundle back was intimidated by [POSTMAN EDIT:NO NAMES]Manager and told that the incident would be looked into and that she would be interviewed by another manager to see if there was a case to answer.
Complaints were made but the interview went ahead and it was assumed that once the facts were clear that would be the end of it but NO ,on Friday the girl received a letter saying that she would receive a further interview as the disciplinary action maybe outside the bounds of that managers grade.
Obviously she was very distressed and frustrated as she had done nothing wrong and the office saw no alternative but to take action, especially as we have another female member of staff who has been off sick for several months as a direct result of [POSTMAN EDIT:NO NAMES] Managers bullying which she has duly complained about.
SEXUAL DISCRIMINATION AND BULLYING THAT IS ABOUT AS BLATANT AS YOU CAN GET BUT WILL ROYAL MAIL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT?? I for 1 doubt it and personally I don't like using words like discrimination as I think sometimes they are too often used but this is about asclear cut as it gets!
With the national ballot on hold this was the last thing that the staff at Burslem wanted as we didn't want to rock the boat but really didn't have a choice and I think thats why there haven't been too many postings about it.
HOPE THIS HELPS.

You all did the right thing in my book - no one should stand for that level of intimidation. Stay strong and defeat this bigot.

Unlucky lads/lasses, sounds like you've got the prize prick of a w****r, mis-managing your office. Royal Mail must have an awards ceremony,
arsehole of the year, and it sounds like your guy is gonna win hands down (his trousers probably). And that's despite the stiff competition he faces
from the multitude of complete and utter tosspots who act like they've been cloned from Lamebrain & Dozier, mis-managing DOs, MCs, etc, going
all the way to the two stupid feckers mis-managing the business as a whole.
Tell your colleague that she'll have the support of every right-minded postal worker in Britain , and as for your DIM, he can go feck himself twice
over, a passtime I'm sure he's more than adept at.
Very best of luck to you all at Burslem.

The latest farce to hit our office comes in the form of the 16 foreign agency casuals that have been bought on to clear our backlog (which somehow seems to be getting bigger even though we're back in).
This might give an insight into the quality of the management that we have here.
The casuals started to arrive at about 6.00 am Tuesday and Lighthouse took them up to the canteen ,after rushing around like a prick for about 5 hours and finding that it was impossible to get the walks out one of the other managers decided to go to Lighthouse at 11 o'clock and point out that 5 hours earlier he had sent 16 casuals upstairs for a drink and maybe he ought to think about giving them something to do? Fortunately for him they were all still there and seemed quite happy to be getting paid for drinking coffee and sleeping on chairs.
The following day(wednesday) the casuals were actually sent out on delivery at about 10 o clock, by 10.30 the phone was red hot with complaints from all the deliveries that they had been on largely due to the fact that they did not appear to have been told that the letters that they had been given had to be delivered through the letterboxes
. They were quite happily throwing them over gates ,hedges, fences so long as they landed somewhere on the property. A bag of mail was also taken but later recovered after some kids decided to run off with it, I think they thought that it was free as it had been dumped in the road with no one anywhere near it.
Some of this is almost laughable if it wasn't for the fact that the regular postmen are already being blamed by the customers who didn't realise what was happening and no doubt managers will try to blame it on us as usual by saying "Oh it's Burslem again just causing trouble !!"
ps for the MODERATORS benefit; Lighthouse isn't anyones name just an alias to protect the not so innocent.

Why o why does this not surprise me, the only times ive heard them talk is either in a foriegn language or broken english, it really is a disgrace, the standard of management from the main boss and Lighthouse is absolutely dreadfull, they need to be told that management is not just about how many degrees youve got or how clever you are, its about common sense answers to problems and man management, in other words how you behave and communicate to people, they just dont understand that this job has always been about give and take, and if you treat people with respect and look after staff that them same staff are more likely to help you out when your stuck or need a favour, a good working atmospere and happy workforce has been proven to be more productive, the main boss seems to think that the best way to get the best out of staff is to use the big stick and create an atmospere of fear and oppression, where everybodys frightened of making a mistake, and Lighthouse ive never met anybody who seems to know less how to talk and behave with people its like RM have cloned him and downloaded every rule and regulation into him, there is no give and take with him its just the RM line every time, the worst part about all this is its not just our office, its happening up and down the country in other offices, its a sad indictment to a once great company that these people get their attitudes from people at the top...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
