Re: Reasons why Revisons are failing
do the job properly.
I am afraid this won't work in my office as have been said before to many working for nothing.
Why am i only the one in my office with m/t frame
once all the mail has been sorted
and i am still ready to go out with everyone else apart from the runners
Revision should be in Beginning April will the staff stick to the start times
or will they panic
Watch this space

I suppose i am lucky i have 1 of the remaining 2 Cycle duties 750 calls
in the office because of my Health Problems like many others.

Re: Reasons why Revisons are failing
If it is recognised by Royal Mail managers and CWU HQ that these revisions have not worked in the majority of cases, then why are they still being pushed through in other offices in their present form. Surely the sensible thing would be to put a halt on any others going through until the problems can be identified and sorted out.
Surely the needs of our customers should also be taken into account. Where the revisions have gone in around here, deliveries are being made in an irregular fashion, some go days without any mail, of those that do get mail many are getting it much later, sometimes into the evening! Its no wonder our revenue is falling would you want to use Royal Mail unless you had to, knowing that was the level of service you might expect!!

Re: Reasons why Revisons are failing
We've had a similar experience to Fishtank, since we were one of the first offices in our area to have P&L and wsm. When P&L first went in it just didn't work, which we told them. Since then we've taken roughly 10 new starters, all 24 hr contracts made up to 32.5 hr contracts and roughly half a dozen OPG made up to full time.
We've also received £800, and made the ban on cars stick.
But as reps we are having major problems getting OPG to use trolleys, and not use a bag and run around, as others have said its not fair on those who do, another major problem is consistent DM teams, which we feel is part of the problem.
Again as others have said, the amount of wsm is not on par with what we used to receive from mech bundles, and of course pkts and tracked have gone up.
We are still trying to put more jobs and hours in, but we in a no unauthorized OT situation, so its become a bit of battle :)

Re: Reasons why Revisons are failing
The problem is Dingo that the so called delivery transformation changes using Geo Route, IWT etc which are not supposed to be budget related, have become budget related because the managers and planners will not input into the systems all of the time parameters that supposed to be input, they use a BSI of 100 which is totally irresponsible and unachievable, done purely for budgeting. They use the lowest traffic week of the year, purely to achieve savings, so how you can describe this system as non budget focused is beyond me and I am sure many of my colleagues.

Re: Reasons why Revisons are failing
we've had wsm and cdv. 8 evr. Now we,ve had 10 duties put back(all on 30 hour). Management leaning on those whose traffic volumes were woefully underestimated. We still have people (can't say members because i don,t know) coming in early. As long as the office is clear and no cutoffs DOM is happy to turn a blind eyeFOR NOW) his job safe for the moment(not like a month ago). We havn't had the final £200 Judas money even though we are at least 12 weeks after implementation. Question for Dingo: is there a secret agreement because as i read it Buzz says "and not less than 6 weeks after implementation."????

I would suggest that when your D.O got to three weeks in that notification was given to pay the remaining £200 of the £800 this would give RML time to process the payment to ensure it was paid no later than 6 weeks after implementation. The qusetion is did the DOM send off the nesscary paperwork/authorisation to get the £200 paid.
A mbr in my D.O has rang wages and was told that once they have been notified of payment needing to be paid that payment would be made within three weeks. He was also told that no notifacation had been received yet

I have notified my ADR of this and he is checking the date by which my D.O should get the money by so if it dosent come by that date we can then go to RML DSM and ask where the money is and why RML are not keeping up their part of the agreement!!

Why are revisions failing ?
The planner and his laptop calculated my round could be done in 2 hours 15 minutes. It takes my float who runs the whole round, forgets redirections, never brings anything back to the office, signs for anything himself and doorsteps the rest,oh yes and uses his car on delivery, 2 hours 45 minutes. He ids one of the fastest going I am not.Neither of us could complete in the time allocated. That was with bikes. With the new trollies we have no chance.ps he doesnt take a break either.

Re: Reasons why Revisons are failing
Well it's nice of the CWU and RM to admit that the revision process is failing, which of course means the agreement has failed. Now I hear the usual mouthpiece saying that it was endorsed by the membership, well it was endorsed by part of the membership, the other half assumed that there was no plan B and that it was the deal of the century
because they were told by those people whom they trusted with their terms and conditions and were woefully let down.
To believe that there was no intention by RM to make savings as professed is naivete in the extreme. They had obviously done their homework which was checked by the CWU and found to be perfectly acceptable............unfortunately, neither could count. Rather than savings there has been an increase in expenditure, manpower, vehicles and equipment.............some of which is woefully inadequate.............particularly the new HCTs with the swivel front wheels which when reported for repair requires a ROMEC engineer to come out to endorse the fault and then order the spares, which of course are never available.
In addition to the admittance that this has been a failure they should both apologise to the employees/membership for their inadequate reading of the situation.

Are they failing though......or are they just costing too much?dvbuk55 wrote:Well it's nice of the CWU and RM to admit that the revision process is failing,
If they are costing too much....how can they be failing if they were not to be based on cost in the first place?
Should the union really be concerning themselves with how much it costs to implement a revision?
Is that what i pay my subs for?....i don't think so....

Re: Reasons why Revisons are failing
Perhaps the cost IS the failing insofar as they are now looking to curtail the revisions on the account of the increased expenditure. I have always been an advocate of P&L and HCTs BUT they have not been implemented properly and neither has the IWT and geo route. Despite the savings NOT being the root cause of modernisation it has had a profound effect. You are right to say as a sub paying member should you care and the answer is NO............but I would certainly be concerned about what was going to be agreed by the CWU to rectify what the pair of them see as a problem.fishtank wrote:Are they failing though......or are they just costing too much?dvbuk55 wrote:Well it's nice of the CWU and RM to admit that the revision process is failing,

Re: Reasons why Revisons are failing
Failure in as much that Royal Mail are providing a service which has deteriorated to the extreme. Failure in it,s ability to remain within the USO as many areas are not receiving a daily delivery and many that do not receive delivery within the time frames. Failure in it,s ability to motivate the workforce to go along with the journey. Failure to change the bullying management culture and failure with creating a better employee management relationship. Basically there is failure on a ginormous scale throughout the whole business. How much more failure do people need to see to recognise that there is FAILURE.

Re: Reasons why Revisons are failing
No revision would fail IF..... they did put enough hours and manpower into offices.
Failing revisions are because of bad planning, not enough hours or manpower.
Why does it need to be so complicated?? We're delivering mail not building rockets.
The simple fact is it's all about SAVINGS.
It's very simple.
6 x 140 d2ds = 840 items per day extra traffic to be prepared into your frame.
On simple adding that counter acts the so called loss of revenue through falling traffic( dubious) and some more.
For revisions to work the management and planners need to listen to the workforce when they tell them the new revised deliveries are unachievable in the time span given.
Offices are being bullied into revisions with the men knowing they won't work.
It's a simple question senior management need to ask themselves.
If we want these revisions to succeed we need to put in more hours into offices. If they want them to FAIL, then cut them to the bone and try and make savings.
Maybe we should all go along with the Cameron con and get into the big society idea and volunteer to work for nothing while Royal Mail make savings
