Former newsagent Tony Duck has expressed concern over postal deliveries in Devizes after he received concert tickets three weeks after the event took place.
Mr Duck and his wife Elizabeth, who used to own the newsagents in Maryport Street, had been looking forward to the concert by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at the Colston Hall in Bristol on January 27.
The tickets eventually arrived at their home in Worton on February 17.
Mr Duck said: “It wasn’t a problem. We went to the hall and explained we hadn’t got our tickets and they were able to print out replacement ones.
“They said they were building up a dossier of these incidents.”
But things became more serious when Mrs Duck received a letter telling her she had a hospital appointment on February 1. The letter arrived on February 3.
Mr Duck said: “I wonder how many people don’t turn up for their hospital appointments simply because they hadn’t received their letters.
“It is interesting to note that both these letters were sent via TNT Post.”
A spokesman for Royal Mail said he couldn’t understand why these items had been delayed so long. He said: “There was disruption to deliveries in December because of the bad weather and some mail posted before Christmas didn’t get there in time. We deal with 68 million items of mail a day so it is difficult to know why these items were so late.”
TNT Post collects and sorts mail from commercial clients but the Royal Mail takes them ‘the final mile’ and puts them through the letter box. A spokesman for TNT Post said she was unaware of any problem with deliveries in the Devizes area.

I wonder if the DSA firms hang on to a few bundles occassionally to make us look bad because it is never 'their fault'
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Who knows what the problem might be. I'd be pissed too, if I had missed something like a final reminder, maybe. Still, I can't help wondering how something such as this seemingly 'trivial' matter gets to be published in the first place.
We posties do things differently, but we still get shot at!
