Definately, will be passing this site along to my mates. Loving this :cfo :lfo ROFL. I'm only an ickle trainee but got serious gripes against these wallet-snatchers. The whole thing stinks worse than my little bro's unwashed pants

Terrier - sorry you didn't get your day off after all, that sucks!!

What can I expect in training, guys? Well for starters - what's the ratio guys:gals? I'm not averse to male company, actually its' the opposite  women in general are too bitchy for me. I need some banter, some humour when winter days are rough... You say we get coaches, thats cool. I was kind of dreading being flung in the deep end, arse over tit, no one to show the ropes.

Keep on truckin'

What should happen is that someone will show you the ropes on a certain walk for about a week (maybe less) this is known as Puppy Walking, and then they should let you get your feet under the table by leaving you on the same duty for a while. Then you may be moved onto other walks as needed. Try your best to get trained on the new walks, even if it is for only 1 day.

Things to watch out for. You can do overtime if you want but it is not compulsory. If you don't want it refuse politely. If your walk is going to go over time and you don't want to work over, advise your manager as soon as you can. It is up to him to get cover for the bits you cant do

The best advice I can give you is don't less the bosses bully you into doing extra work they may try too. Try to get to know everyone in your section but don't jump into the banter straight away, get to know who you can trust and who you cant (common sense but its worth stating).

But the best advice I can give you is JOIN THE UNION they help out a lot in this job and a good rep seems to know more about the job than most managers.

Excellent advice Terrier, def taken that on board. I've found with past careers, the Unions seem to on the ball while the managers are playing with theirs :cfo :lfo *ahem*

Overtime = I'll get to know my work load first before I take on more that I can handle. I'm not averse to extra work, but I'd rather get to know my strengths/weaknesses first. As for other workers...yeah, I can hang in the background for a bit. Don't wanna come over as uber-pushy.
