my day

Post by tottyfan »

well went back today after being off and what a mess in the office had to do light duties so prepping all morning till 12.20, 4 frames prepped 1 being my own and then found out it was going to be taken out by 4 polish strike breakers and some things i also noticed is that some of the dead mail was left, redirects not done because not enough time because polish strike breakers comming back to take more walks out .This strike is working to a point but the office budget must be going through the roof to pay for casuals desperate times require desperate measures i think.

My Day

Post by JAMESMARSH1980 »

Well all in all was not a bad day seen as it was supposed to be my day off, 2 rounds to do, out by 8.30, first letter posted at 8.45, first round finished 10.45 only 1 special and 5 packets, second round was a doddle, done in an hour and a half, just 2 packets no specials or recorded, home by half 12, drinking my first can at 12.45, sun glowing, footy season starting, what more can I ask for (apart from more than a 2.5% rise)

Its a computer program that's meant to make all walks 3hrs 30 mins long but seems to range from about 3 hrs all the way to 4hrs 30mins in my DO.

No weve not had that yet, are area manager came in last week for the first time in ages and said he was going to look into all the rounds, mine usually takes 2.5hours and sometimes upto 3 on a heavy day, I did one last week that took 4.5, long drives, big gaps between houses and in total there are 517 houses on the round, theres 413 on mine, one guy at are place finishes his in 2 hours all the time and he's not the fastest on his feet, theres one round that when the lads off on holiday or day off nobody touches with a bargepole, its a complete knightmare, I get roped into once but have learnt my lesson know, my driver tried to warn me by saying just say no infront of the DOM and the DOM just told him not to say anything, I was gutted !!

My first 3 bags are bad, there the long drive ones and oap flats that always cum out to me and talk to me,I am not ignorant so do stay and have a little chat with them and drop them of elastic bands, that takes me aabout an hour for my first 3 bags, its always 7 bags I do as I dont drive or do a bike so each bag always finishes next to a butty shop where my bags are kept or a fellow postie where my other 4 bags are kept, I cant fault my round, got to know all the people I deliver to and there all really nice (apart from the jack russel that waits behind a conifer for me)

What a bad day I had today

Post by JAMESMARSH1980 »

It was my day off yesterday so decided to go to portsmouth to watch utd play, I live in the northwest so it was a 5 hour train journey, crap game and crap result so gets on the train at 10.00pm arrived at home at 4am. Up for work at 7 and gets in the office at 8.00am to find my round not thrown out fully, threw the rest of it out which took to about 9.15am, was bagged up ready to go by 9.30, but no drivers were about so was sat waiting till 10.45 till I finally got my lift up, (Its a long way from my office where I start delivering and it was chucking it down so didnt want 2 bike it) Got 2 my second house and a lady came out "Excuse me but you posted this to me yesterday and its the wrong address" told her I was off yesterday but sorry anyway, next house exactly the same, then the next house and the one after that, rang the office up and spoke to my mate and asked who did my round, it was a new guy, he had delivered all the wrong post to the wrong addresses, He had even piled a load of mail in the postbox as he couldnt find some of the houses, I must have had over 40 people come out moaning at me, to top it off it was chucking it down and had been splashed by about 20 cars, roll on tommorow !!!!

Hi, JM1980 - How many houses are there on your round ? I've been on my round for 7 weeks now and try as I might I can't do it under 3 hours (there's over 550 houses). What's the secret ?
