No wonder, as somewhat of an anti-royalist, that I get that tremendous sense of schadenfreude on every occasion that I partake in this. Small perks of the job...right across her throat ha ha :nana .

Regicide or GBH at a minimum I would have thought :left: :left: :left: :left: :left: . Saying that treason was the last capital offence to be taken off the statute books - in the 90s IIRC.

Urban myth.
Defacing the queens image related to using it to promote anti-monarchist views or sentiments...hence the treason charge.
There was also defacing currency but that was more about counterfeiting than her Maj....

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

This is the correct procedure for crossing out unfranked stamps.
Well done Grinder for finding that in the Republican downloads.

I'm only interested in the address. I don't glance at the stamp area, and have no idea whether any particular bit of mail is stamped, franked, first class, second class, mailsort, DSA, it just doesn't register with me.

The CFCs at our Mail Centre are worse than useless. You'd be hard pressed to see any mark on the stamp/envelope! :arrrghhh

I'd be VERY interested in the written regulation regarding this as I've just been charged the postage + admin fee as the post office staff "couldn't tell if the stamps had been previously used or not" as they had not been franked but had cutting of a different envelope under them.

for all they know the sender may have stuck them on one envelope then decided to use a bigger one instead... surly the public should not be penalised if royal mail can't do their job??

I've been a postie for about 4 months now and this is the first time i've even heard of this.

So we're supposed to cross them out so they cannot be used again or something?
