It starts with overweight bags then moves onto skipping breaks, signing for recorded's,skimming D2D and doorstepping packets.
Once you start "making time" it's very difficult to stop and as they start piling work on you become more inventive to compensate.
Not every flyer cuts corners but the majority of those who cut corners are flyers...chasing time.
It's a slippery slope with a P45 at the bottom.
skimming d2d's?
In times gone by we didn't have to deliver to every house, it was I think an average of 3 out of 4, or 75% of the drops and those left out were "skimmed". That practice was supposed to end some time ago but up until fairly recently it was still used by some of the older posties, until a head count on the "excess" D2D was begun frame by frame.
Now of course it should no longer happen as 1/6th should be done each day...............though whether or not that is strictly adhered to is another matter.

Trolleys are a pain in the rear, I would rather not use one myself. In fact our office does P&L and almost everyone leaves their trolleys behind now, the management know, the union reps know, nobody says a word. Why? Because the work is getting done on time, which means less O/T paid out and less mail being brought back because people are cutting off.
I'm not saying it's right, but it's what going on.
I don't get it,i really really don't.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

And you can bet they wont be telling anyone up the chain of command what's happening.
Don't come crying when they decide P&L is working so well in your office they want to collapse rounds as well.
