Some deliver parcels for their own walks, so will sometimes notice that they have a parcel that should be redirected, but some deliver parcels for other walks. When the yorks come of the lorry in the morning, it is part of someone's duty to place all the parcels in the relevant skips. Obviously, he doesn't have a clue who has redirections, so just puts them where he should. Now there can be up to 20 - 30 parcels to deliver each, and maybe one walk might have 20 odd redirections. Are you expected to go through your parcels and tally them up against 20 odd redirections for your round. Because that would take a long time. I've never seen it happen, because it just doesn't happen. Who would take the blame if a parcel was delivered when it should have been redirected.
We've been told that if we miss a redirection, then we have to watch a dvd on redirections every time we miss one!!

we are talking about SD's,not parcels

My office is exactly like that.

The people who deliver large packets never check them for redirections. If a special is a large one, that goes with the van rather than the walking postie, then I very much doubt it gets checked against redirections.

I would say the best thing to do is deliver the s**t as normal, when a complaint comes in about the redi then it's a result!
Because if the screw want's to kick arse and there 'does not seem' to be an official policy on this then it's easy, every large packet/reg/tracked then has to be checked for a redi.
Result, more time needed in the office. :nana

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
