Or a injury. Or worse. Runner in office had a stroke at 35 I reckon it was his running, panicking and always chasing the goal of finishing before 11 am.fishtank wrote:Cutting corners is addictive....as is finishing early.

Once you start "making time" it's very difficult to stop and as they start piling work on you become more inventive to compensate.
Not every flyer cuts corners but the majority of those who cut corners are flyers...chasing time.

Re: ditch the trolleys lads
You have to ask that if the union had any effect then the Rep would be on to their Branch to have the situation rectified. The 2010 Agreement was based on the supply and use of trolleys to get the weight off the shoulder, it didn't take long for the planned loops of 20 minutes to become 40 minutes and now to cap it all you have the membership adding to the problem.
Perhaps if some of these so called "activists" got off their arse and visited delivery offices to see what exactly WAS going on instead of talking about what SHOULD be going on there may well be some use for them.

stick with the the trolley , if you have an accident and they find out you carry a bag and not use the trolley, they will use this as an excuse to not pay you or to get rid of you

Re: ditch the trolleys lads
B&H is like most fools in any delivery office you could meet around the country, giving it the large about how quick they can do a delivery ignoring all help the union have tried to give them, no doubt he comes in early, he takes no break and runs around doorstepping and sits at home pround of himself an hour or two early.
It's fools like this that put presure on me and alike that start on time and god forbid take a break and do our jobs as we are briefed to do.
Iv'e had it with these fools, everytime you come in early, not take a break, doorstep items you fook over every postman that does the job how it's set to be done, you make us look bad even though we are doing the job right, you give the so called management sticks to beat us with as we can not compete with people that work unpaid hours.
Shame on you!

Agreed . Regarding posties not using their trolleys RM are in a win win situation , their getting the job done quicker saving them a fortune and if someone has a accident they don't have to pay out anything because they haven't used the equipment
supplied . I'll be very suprised if RM management have a clamp down and force posties to use trolleys .

Re: ditch the trolleys lads
We have just had our table to revision and I gave up a van and have chosen to use HCT trolley delivery. I will say it takes a bit of getting used to and I had some upper back ache for the first week.
However it’s the way forward as iam delivering roads in 2 or 3 loops with often just one bundle and a couple of packets in the bag where as the guy before was carrying a huge overweight bag and staggering to his drop box.
Yes it takes longer (30 mins on ave) and there is an element of dead walking involved which comes hard to a postie but normally I feel totally knocked on a Friday night but right now I don’t feel too bad. Iam also stopping for a proper break in the canteen halfway round.
It has to be better for you than running around trying to make some time.

Re: ditch the trolleys lads
If an office moves to trolleys, then later on the managers say " Leave your trollies behind lads, and take a pouch, if you get it done quicker, it's job & knock." then as far as I'm concerned, it's only so when the sector manager says "You need to make savings!" the DOM can turn around to him and say "Sure boss, I have a bit of spare capacity." Then he turns around to you and says "Right, we've had our budget cut, so we'll absorb three more duties, and no more PTs will get made up to FT, and anyone that has reverted to a pouch will not be allowed to use a trolly, otherwise we'll call that wilful delay, if you got any questions, ask someone that gives a crap."
There's no such thing as a free lunch, and whatever you time you get paid for at home, then RM will take it back with interest, from you, your colleagues, and those yet to join us.

Fish your so right
We get paid 40,30,20 hours but its how hard you have to work them that counts long term and not if you can make 3 hours at the end of the week which you sat indoors watching telly

While I share your frustration, I think perhaps that is a bit extreme. Very un-Torres like.fishtank wrote:....it makes you want to maim and kill.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Trolleys are a pain in the rear, I would rather not use one myself. In fact our office does P&L and almost everyone leaves their trolleys behind now, the management know, the union reps know, nobody says a word. Why? Because the work is getting done on time, which means less O/T paid out and less mail being brought back because people are cutting off.Stormproof wrote:All I can say about this thread is unbelievable!
