Before you get too excited remember they are getting around £17ph to do what you get paid around £9ph for.
I would prefer to see managers...manage and the extra work bring....extra jobs rather than have these idiots
miss-delivering all over the shop in an attempt to hide their own failings.
Well said - they should make sure the job is done properly first (17 compared to 9 is not fair) as we need more F/T jobs within RM before we start celebrating.[/quot

Who's job ours or theirs.... hope your not sugesting the postie is not doing his properly are you ?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

But the bikes carry the bags not you and if you stick to weight limit whats the problem? RML offical policy is that intend to retain some bike based duties. If your D.O is going to keep them a be part of the small minority that keeps them then celebrate.

hey man, i am happy, all the townies in our office are well happy were keeping them. it wasnt me who stated all the crap about them going due to health n saftey. i was under the impression ALL bikes were going. we all know the bikes carry the weight, the saftey issues were regarding people falling off them, using them in winter/ice, carrying zero bags to eliminate bad backs and whatever other s**t they could think up. the trollys were brought in for no other reason than to carry more out than you can on a bike, ie: junk mail. but yeah mate, were all happy there staying.......

Royal Mail are watering this agreement down because of their financial position and the fact that the delivery methods revisions are in the main.....a disaster.
We have to be careful..... :nervous

What you don't mean the scoundrels will use Geo-route Mk2 or Table Tops to get the long term savings they really want. Of course they'll dangle the rotting carrot of £200 or £800 Transformational Lump Sums (which was yours as part of the Colleagueshares scam anyway). No of course not :angel

I did a delivery t'other day which hadnt been 'LOOPED' why's that then? No sign of any Walk Log on frame. Park n Loop is fine for partners sorry 'Pairings' who work together all the time cos they got those duties in Re-pick, but for Reserves, part-timers, newbies, who get moved around all the time, its a feckin ball-ache. It's got nothing to do with wether you LIKE your partner, its purely the fact that yes, everyone works at different speeds, has slightly different methods of working, one likes to jhave a break, one doesnt, one can go home to mummy and a cooked tea, one has kids to pick up from school, or just more responsibilities, ones on a shorter contract, 6 on, 6 off, as opposed to 5 day week, some people prefer to come in early for their own benefit, especially if you're not familiar with the frame/round, and have door to doors to prep, some people come in bang on time, not a minute sooner, there is no consistency, and most of us have 'Trolley round envy :mad ' And as for it not being a Race, ive always thought since i started in job, that most treat it as exactly that lol, you only have to listen to the questions asked of each other every day....'what time did you finish yesterday?' and when you're doing a Loop come on, we all try and race back before our partners, even though as pointed out, loops are often of unequal size. Then there's the vans which only have one set of 'working' keys, so its not worth gettin back before your partner if he/she is the keyholder, cos u cant get in the bloody thing anyway. And as for the general public, who look bemused when they see TWO postmen in the area, so they naturally think they must be getting a better service, but hang on.....A few times i have been stopped and asked for post for a certain adjoining street, and when i have to explain that my colleague has the post, even tho it might only be the very next street, they look very confused! Hey ho.

When ever anyone says, "Why is there 2 of you delivering the mail?" I always tell them it's become a very rough area and we have to go around in pairs for our own safety like the police! :Very Happy Always winds them up and starts them off on a lecture about what a lovely street it is with zero crime etc. :Very Happy

Depends on your definition of P&L. Our office P&L revision has been scrapped, this is not 100% official yet but we all know.

It's been replaced with a TT revision, basically keeping the walks as they are but collapsing 6 days a week instead of 4 - also the vans that we already have will be used and we'll be taking the specials/tracked for our own walks. No looping though, no repick and no walks that were 45-60 mins longer than our current ones.

I don't know if RM are trying to stop any more failures or common sense has taken over (2 hours indoor time was never going to be enough) but I have to give our managers some credit, they have argued for us and openly say there is only so much we can do within duty time and the P&L revision wouldn't have worked.
