Well I'm glad as a rep, of what our 2 WPC do, it takes a lot of pressure off me, as I know that new entrants will be looked after a lot better than having managers do it. I also know that if there are any problems the WPC will come to me, so that we can show a united front and get the problem sorted. I suppose it depends on the trust you have in the WPC. Both of us (Reps) also had a say on who we thought would be a good WPC from the people who applied for the post, and TBH if we think their doing a crap job, we will try and get them removed.

TBH no one appreciates you, until their in the s**t - fact of life.

I had to take a new starter round my delivery last week,I think he found it abit overwhelming he knew nothing of re-directions,kill offs or even how to fill in P739 card i answered his questions best i could but end off day i'm not trained or payed to train him.He lasted 2 days.

We have two WPC's neither of which have had any involvemeant in the current influx of new starters.

Does your rep bring this up at the weekly resource meetings?
• Are there any new entrants or transferees starting that week? Will they need training?

I don't think it's down to the DOM who's the WPC is it?
If a job's available then it should go on the board, and whoever goes for it gets interviewed from someone outside the office.
That is what happened at our place when they 1st came out. Can't see that being changed.

Also how would you get rid of a crap one unless you make a complaint that he's/she's .............crap. :nervous
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It WAS advertised in our office, no one else applied and the DOM had already asked me to apply, so I did. No one else wants to do it, but they begrudge someone else doing it.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

Ours was skill selected at an interview from applicants. To be honest the one we got is a good one, no bosses mate (quite the opposite in fact) Union stalwart and best of all a really good instructor. He does read RMC so he knows I have said all that before. But He does not know I am glad they didn't select another one who thinks he is a good postie.
