OUR MANAGERS TELLS US EVERY WEEK WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE A JOB.WE ARE IN THE KT POST CODE AREA,WE ARE TOLD MAIL DOWN,WHAT RUBBISH, WE ARE GOING OUT WITH MORE BAGS EVERY DAY,ROYAL MAIL SAY THERE ARE 140-160 LETTERS IN THE MECH TRAYS,RUBBISH WE HAVE COUNTED THEM OUT ALL WEEK GUESS WHAT,290-310 ALL WEEK,THE ONLY WAY TO SAFEGUARD JOBS,IS TO COME IN ON TIME,PUT YOUR RIP OFF DOOR TO DOORS IN DURING IN TIME,LIKE ROYAL MAIL TELL YOU TO,DON'T PUT THEM IN ON YOUR TIME.TAKE MEAL BREAKS,AND WHEN OUT THERE DO THE JOB AS SET OUT BY ROYAL MAIL,STOP THE PEOPLE WHO RUSH AROUND TO FINISH BEFORE TIME,NO USING YOUR OWN CARS,BRING BACK WHAT YOU DON'T DELIVER,DON'T DO RIP OFF OVERTIME TO CLEAR IT.WHEN ALL THE MAIL YOU BRING BACK STARTS TO PILE UP ON YOUR FITTING,DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT,BECAUSE YOU WILL ONLY WORK TO YOUR TIME,AND BRING BACK SOME MORE THE NEXT DAY.THIS IS THINGS THAT THE CWU SHOULD BE TELLING ALL THEIR MEMBERS TO DO.WHERE ARE THEY(CWU)THEY HAVE GONE ALL QUIET AFTER LAST PAY DEAL,THANKS UNION FOR GETTING US SUCH A GOOD PAY DEAL, HA HA ,6-8 DOOR TO DOORS FROM THE FIRST WEEK AFTER DEAL,I AM £30-£35 DOWN EVERY WEEK,THE LITTLE BIT EXTRA IN PAY DOES NOT MAKE UP FOR THIS.
Oh please do not go blaming the union - again.

The union has been imploring its members to do the job - properly - for quite some time now. Individual reps have been imploring the members within their D.O. to do the properly - again, for qute some time now. There are even posters/placards out there telling you to take your break and, in essence, work to your time.

They've probably gone quiet because there's no point repeatedly telling morons not to do themselves out of a job. Then when they do get done out of a job, it's the "frakking union".

TBT

I think the urban myth may have been caused by a bit of simple confusion, that confusion being thinking that everyone (OPG) in RML gets it rather than everyone in a DO.

Ok then...You're wrong...the D2D into workload guidelines were not part of the agreement, only the general idea of moving D2D into daily workload.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

so they say,I travel up and down the country, from Newcastle to Bournemouth Spalding to Plymouth, very strange, not one office voted for it,I will let you draw your own conclusions ,I think it goes something like self preservation of the union, Why fight with RM when you no you cant win,and lose all that subscription money people blindly pay in every week.Still it pays union bosses very well.

Mail Counts are down to the local unit to perform and present the results to the planning team, if there is a perceived discrepancy, record the results and document them in the weekly resource meeting.

I notice there is some concern regarding cars in delivery, a revision gives the unit the opportunity to completely remove cars on delivery, providing a saving for staff who currently use cars, fuel, wear and tear etc.

Yes they do - they get a FUNCTION based supplement just like we do on Deliveries only its a lot less. Some could argue that we get our supplement for doing nothing now that D2Ds are MEANT to be in the workload.

Yes you are right, the union have done a lot for us,8 D2D instead of 3 and for less money, lower then the basic hourly rate for overtime, just over £9 great, even less if you go over 10 hours a week, agreed to 5 hour delivery spans in future.Agreed to slash hours in every delivery office in the KT GU TW post area. All based on less mail and walk sequence. Mail is up in our area, and guess what no walk sequence.Don't beleave everything the union tell you, head out of sand comes to mind.People say if we had no union it would be a lot worse, bring it on.Leave and get another job.

Wake up taurus88.The sun does not shine out of the CWU's arse.

In this months 'Voice' magazine, someone called Dave Mewse says that door to door prep time isn't built into his duty. Bob Gibson calls him a liar stating some guff about LTB's and that prep time is included with the indoor work tool. It may well be, but has anyone seen this tool in action (no pun intended)? Dave Mewse obviously hasn't, and I haven't. Door to Door prep time is NOT included in my duty. Nothing whatsoever has changed with any of the duties I cover, except there are 5 or 6 items of door to doors to prep and deliver. There are the same number of houses, the same amount of mail, same start and finish times. So.. where does this magic prep time come into it? Is this 'tool' missing from my office? Was it meant to be used before giving us the extra door to doors? Was the weight meant to be taken off our shoulders with these new magic delivery methods BEFORE we got extra weight in the form of more door to doors?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

bob gibson should not be naming any individual in press of any sort the guy could prob take him to court for slander.
maybe the union lawyers would take case on but then again only if its winnable

Now I do blame the CWU for some things but:
flyingsam wrote:still waiting for our £200
Who actually pays it - Royal Mail so why are the CWU taking flack I have no doubt your rep is pushing this as much as they can.
flyingsam wrote:the shares are worthless
Royal Mail said they are essentially worthless - the Union are ramping up the campaign against this as we speak.
flyingsam wrote:plus all the extra D2D
Yes I agree with you on that one that has been a debacle - RM using slight of hand by changing call rates etc to get it into the workload and the CWU swallowed it whole
flyingsam wrote:Then you won't get stabbed by them, when you need them most.
Now national issues are not when I need the CWU most, or even local issues - its indvidual issues when I need them most and I have to be honet that if you leave the Union soley because of any failings on the National side then thats a very short sighted view. It could be the worst Union in the world, it could be cosying up to bosses and agreeing everything thrown at them, they could be all in the same Masons club for all I am concerned, but when it comes to a disciplinary or dismissal hearing I would rather have that pile of cack backing me up, than me and a few pissed off mates.
flyingsam wrote:The sun does not shine out of the CWU's arse
Anyone who actually belives that deserves all they get, but equally so if you dismiss the benefits of being in a Union because of your opinion of the leadership that in my opinion is a short sighted knee jerk reaction. Leaving the Union because you don't like where its going, only reinforces those who have a different opinion.

Its simple maths X number of members want a more miltant Union. Y number of members want a less miltant union. Y wins a vote so the some of the X group leave - Now which side is likely to win or change things.
y-(x-1) = y winning.

Thats why I stay in the CWU.
