STUNNED Julie MacQueen received a Christmas card TWO MONTHS after it was posted just a five minute walk from her house.

The hand-made festive greeting was sent first class by neighbours Peter, Fumiko and Musashi Miller on December 12, complete with a paw print of the family dog.

It had the correct address in Cullipool, Isle of Luing, near Oban, Argyll, but no postcode.

While it dawdled in transit, one baffled sorter wrote "try ML6" - a postcode in LANARKSHIRE - on the card.

Julie, 42, said: "When I got it, I had to do a double take. Peter and Fumiko pass my door most days so they could have just handed it to me."

She added: "I haven't had anything like this before, although we have had some mail destined for Luing which has gone up to Lairg."

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said the card was sent to ENGLAND for sorting during the spell of severe weather.

She said: "The conditions did mean that on a few occasions, we dispatched mail down south to be sorted and then returned to be delivered to customers."

Musashi said: "I posted it at Cullipool Post Office on Luing, five minutes from Julie house, so I didn't put the postcode on - I just wrote 'local' on it."

Husband Peter, 40, said: "In the bad weather you would have thought that they would have sorted it up here. It's ridiculous.

"If it had been sorted in Oban this would never have happened.

"We are just lucky it wasn't anything important."
