Help - Monthly Pay & Cutoff dates

Post by de-coded »

My last day of service was 30-09-07, Mdec cutoff date is 16th September so I was expecting wages between 16th and 30th due to be paid on the 31st October 2007.

Now sheffield have told me I will not be paid this as i will have got this pay on the 30th September, but my Shift manager said I would be paid till last day of service with 2 weeks wages due at end of October.

Any help or advice offered is appreciated.

The cut off date is the 16th for things like overtime, however the pay on the end of the month is always for being employed from the beginning to the end of that month.

If you worked on the nightshift, or weekend shift, you may be due 2 weeks worth of night shift or Sunday allowance. Also the keyer bonus is usually for the previous month, so really you should have that as well.

Also, if your last day of service was the 30th September, you may still have outstanding leave owing, which should have been paid.

As far as I know, we are not paid any wages behind, in fact we get paid up to the end of the month we are in. The only money owed one month behind would be any overtime, bonus etc. Obviously your manager didn't know what they were talking about and should have checked for you.

The induction and everything should be done on the first day - however you should have at least had a briefing on the H&S aspects (how to lift a bag etc), and an intro into the Union. Just make sure your training officer explains everything.
