MESSAGES FOR DAVE WARD PT2 NOW YOU'VE SLEPT ON IT!

Post by POSTMAN »

Just thinking, now that we've had time to think and slept on yesterdays decision, how are you feeling now.
Do you still feel the same way or has your views changed since you've had time to think, and perhaps read some of the comments made so far on here.

Get stuck in.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

But have they come up against such mighty warrior's as us before, me thinks not! they have had a good kicking, we are stronger as a whole, lets wait at see. ALSO as above I think we will be given more `respect` this time round, when you think people will just capitulate and then find you have made a big mistake, you may not admit it, but you certainly have a bit more caution next time round.

My message to Dave remains more or less the same as yesterday, remember the bad deals struck on our behalf in the past, and never, never,
give Leighton & Crozier an inch.

My feelings are generally the same. In that well done for leading the union in the trustworthy and reliable style you have. However, I personally would like the following Royal Mail proposals to be withdrawn completely.

1. Later Starts.
2. Forced Monthly Pay
3. Summer Lapsing.
4. Sickness cover.
5. Doing D2Ds for free
6. Colleagueshares.

I would accept the 50/50 share of savings if we are told in advance what the savings are to be, what impact on the office they would have, and only if local union agreement by show of hands/secret ballot is part of the offer. I am sick of RM giving us targets we get close and they move them so they are unreachable.

I trust you will come up with an acceptable agreement but I urge you to remember when negotiating that we are the union, we have made the sacrifices and we are willing to do it again if needed so walk in our shoes when you are talking to Royal Mail.

One comment I must make is that for a Communications Union there did not seem to be a lot of communicating (except on this site) between offices and people became worried and disenfranchised and some were thinking of crossing the pickets. So more communicating and if possible more visits from Area and above to picket lines outside of the big cities.

Given time to think i'm still not convinced...i still believe r.mail are stalling on 3 fronts..1.to clear the accumulated strike mail backlog..2.to maybe wait out and blag thier way to a re-ballot.. and 3.it will be much easier for them to force later starts through by executive action without ongoing i/a. by dangling carrots under our noses (grandfather rights) and seeming to give ground to the union by agreeing negotiations they have left us feeling a bit exposed..I have total faith in our union and in Dave and Billy otherwise i certainly wouldn't have jeopardised my families welfare for them..however thier next move remains under deep scrutiny...
if you aint payin..the mails stayin!!!

Does anyone know how long the casuals are staying with R.M.,i think that the CWU should have told R.M. to finish with the casuals before entering into more talks, or am i wrong in my thinking.

Dave Ward's done a cracking job so far. I was wary yesterday, thinking how RM have agreed to the union proposals for talks.
At work this morning, my DIM approached me with a piece of paper outlining a joint statement from CWU and RM. Us reps recieved the joint statement proposals that the CWU went into talks with last week. Of those proposals only one thing has changed. The Date when an agreement needs to be reached.
CWU wanted 24th August, Now it's the 4th Sept.
As far as i see it, Dave Ward & Billy Hayes should be given a pat on the back for their work so far. Their strategy has backed RM into a corner. Now lets make sure this is not a smokescreen for the backlog of work to be cleared.

Dear DAVE,
I vaguely remember last years ballot result giving plus 90% response for IA. With this you managed to extract an agreement and positive commitment from RM regarding the way forward. This commitment has been rather brief, they've torn up the agreement, once again we ballot, the result- 70%. There is no basis for trust in RM's exec's and with each disappointment apathy grows. Next year 50%???

Any agreement has to show visable signs of a change of direction in RM business plan, otherwise it is going to more of the same old story. Leighton's management bootboys relishing throwing their weight around. Harasment and bullying the norm.
While your at it Dave, let the two f*ckwits know that their are plenty of savings to be made in their management structure. How any business could hope to be competetive with these gormless, know nothing, incompetent, spineless, yes men running it, i'll never know. They could be got rid of very cheaply aswell, because we all know they aint got no fight in em. Anyway, It'll give me the greatest of pleasure to prove that the vast majority of these tossers are surplus to requierements, if they do develope a backbone and decide to fight.
