Yes pat,see posts above.

Now Fish, there is nothing in there unless i've missed it where if for some reason a P&L duty (ignoring the snow for a min as that would/could come under "due to individual capability following risk assessment") had to use a bag.

Now me and you and many others on here if it happend to us would take out lighter pouches and what will be will be,we aint bothered, but some of our colleagues?

This is going to be a major problem, the whole "I don't want to use a trolley" nonsense.
The Union have Royal Mail by the balls on this one and the only thing that can screw it up is the members themselves.
The use of the assigned delivery methods is mandatory...you can't get any clearer than that.
If a manager tries to force you to use a bag...he's screwed, any use of bags has to be within agreed guidelines and will have to be logged,if you take it upon yourself to use a bag and get caught or hurt yourself....you are screwed...if a manager turns a blind eye to it and someone gets hurt or it gets flagged up above him....both of you are screwed.
This is a big thing for H&S reps to show they can really protect the health of their members.
Any use of bags after a delivery methods revision should go through the reps and if it isn't necessary or safe certainly from my point of view...it wouldn't be happening.
...but then there's the members themselves. :cuppa

If you don't have a delivery methods revision...you can't have the delivery methods.
Personally i don't think the union should have allowed non DM revisions to go ahead, the IWT will strip your indoor hours to the bone and without trolleys you can't increase your delivery span so you will be left with a big hole in your daily workload which can only be filled by lapsing indoor duties and using part-timers.

Or by agreeing to increase the delivery span with none of the benefits.
I know you would have to be stupid to do that but I can think of some offices that have..... :whistle

Have heard members say they would rather be sacked than use a trolley after a DM revision.
And months later no trolley used and guess what :whistle

Time bomb gb...you know what RM are like.
Someone, somewhere will have an accident and then boom...DOM's will flap and out will come the conduct code.
Imagine explaining to the Mrs that you've lost your job because you wouldn't use a trolley. :cuppa

You said it earlier on ft, the onus is on the members to carry out the agreement as stipulated and we both know that's not going to happen. We went into revision in November, the bad weather arrived which precluded using LCTs and HCTs. The HCTs are back in use but the LCTs.....................and a blind eye is being used and the reason the members give for not using the assigned equipment.............go on have a wild guess :chuckle

Go on.......... you've either heard it before or it's a gift you've got. :chuckle Funny thing is they don't see that by NOT using the trolleys they leave themselves wide open to disciplinary and if allowed to continue will more than likely have even more work added eventually. Can you imagine trying to press a case for industrial injury for someone humping a bag full of mail when they are supposed to be using a trolley?

What about the security of these trolleys ,do you take them in shops and businesses with you ,or up or down steps, steep drives ,if we have to lock them at each call, its obviously going to take a long time just to do what would normally be quite quick?

September 16th 2010
Review Date: 16th September 2011

Private Car
Low Risk
Drivers and cars must be checked and signed off as per The Private Cars on Delivery Procedure.
Only the drivers own walk mail and that of a passenger duty holder on an adjacent delivery route may be conveyed.
SD items must not be stored in a second pouch but kept with the person.
Pouch weights must adhere to the weight restrictions as set out in weight solutions in the delivery toolkit.

Am I seeing things or is the use of private cars still condoned on delivery? If so then so much for the 2010 and beyond agreement. What an absolute bloody disgrace. Private cars should either be banned or each person should have a choice.
