One thing I've learned in my short time - flick through the top three or four letters in your bundle regularly - with some frame slots having two addresses, you can often end with the two mixed up - saves you having to walk backwards too often :d'oh!

Identify the big drinkers in your section. After they come in and use the head, it isn't safe for anyone to follow.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

on a rainy day, make sure the last letter of your bundle is a waterproof one with plastic covering, its always the last letter on your bundle that gets the soggiest
and smaller bundles are better in the wet.

Try and get to know the names of the Guy's and Gal's ;) in the PHG locker, they will keep you right on the protocol for specials/recorded etc (eg never handing a special to someone unless they have printed and signed in the correct box)

Firstly, you should insist on being shown a new walk before being put on it, but if you do find yourself lost, looking at the postcode on your next letter and using the navigation software descibed below can be a great help.

If you have an Android phone use the Google Navigation software which comes stock on the phone. You can set it to "walking" mode and it helped me a great deal.

Obviously, I wouldn't suggest buying a new phone specially for the job, but if you do need a new phone then consider the one in the link below which is fairly cheap but comes with the navigation software.

... or buy an A-Z of the local area and keep it in your bag ... all walks in one slim volume - and about £85 cheaper (the phrase "fairly cheap" is much misused these days )

Buy & use COMPEED BLISTER PLASTERS, you will need them, and they are the dog's danglies ( just wish I knew about them when I started, especially with a 2 inch blister on the ball of my foot :Sick :evil/mad )
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

Never had a blister as a postie or as a serviceman. My Tips to avoid blisters are:

1. Wear shoes in before wearing them on delivery.
2. Soften the leather as much as possible. (soaking or pummeling).
3. Wear cotton socks and woollen socks at the same time.
4. Tie laces as tight as you can stand to reduce excess movement of the shoe.

I'm surprised left-handers don't have their own forum.
I have looked & looked but just can't find the thread for us "cack handers" ?? :nana

I'm sure it's there, but I bet the admin was so cack handed, in stead of typing "cackhanders.co.uk" or whatever, he ended up signing up to "huitrwosh5trjewidmgjbhg.co.uk" & that doesn't exactly trip off the tongue / search engine, does it? :hmmmm
