It's not amazing,it's funny. :left:

Conspiracy theory? Not sure we've ever mentioned that on the site before. :nervous

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I usually get about 9-10Kg of mail in each bag and 4 packets (too big to put in a bundle), enough for 50-100 houses. On a busy day our two duties have about 18 pouches in total, 30 tracked items, 10 specials and another 20 oversized packages (bigger than shoe box).

Trollies are good but much slower. The worst problem with them is that we are no longer permitted to carry a bag so if you only have 2 bundles of mail for a street you have to take the trolly.
I also find it very annoying having to stop all the time. Stop to check through the mail before delivering it, stop to get the next bundle out, stop to get packages out, stop to put undelivered items back in. All that used to be done whilst walking.

We know that, you know that, the union knew it when they negotiated it,RM thought wrong,s**t happens. :Very Happy

SPOT ON POSTMAN a deal had to be struck and if we all work to the book then the CWU did get negotiate us a good deal, however...........
There are a lots of IFS in this job. If the management didn't harass and bully people there would be more mail brought back. If RM actually had a clue how to run their business they wouldn't be in the mire so much in the first place. If all the "good will" working was taken out of the company RM would have collapsed in the 1990s.

I think that trollys are the way forward for many reasons and ive just given up driving duty to go back to a basic trolley duty.

With a trolley duty you are restricted by how much you can take out, i think its about 105kg total with the early ones. Anyone know the difference in the mark 2 version because that is a max of 122kg. :hmmmm
But the best thing is the number of parcels which you can fit into one :Very Happy Most days 2 or 3 at most and thats if they are not too heavy. If you compare that to a van share loop duty its nothing where you could find yourself lumbered with 15-20 including tracked :Very Happy

Finally using the trolley as a mobile drop box means you can easily break down a heavy day and save your back. Yes it will take longer but if you find yourself going over your time then challenge it with the dom.

If the only problem you can find with trolleys is that it takes longer you have lost me. :confused
These trolleys could save more jobs than D2D into workload ever will.
Imagine if every single walk in the country took 30 mins longer.....goldmine,jackpot,lottery all rolled into one. :dance
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I am totally with you and i cant understand people at my office who say "if used a trolley i would not get round and i would have to cut off most days so i use a bike (or car :arrrghhh )". Its like, and your point is !

IN my office ,wich does not have P +l most of at least half the office uses trolleys ,of their own accord.
You dont get the speed merchants using trolleys.but many of us now would never go back to carrying heavy bags on shoulders again ,stupid if you think about it!

Biggest problem ,the quality of old stlye trolleys is crap ,cant handle the weight .
The new style trolleys in the P+l vans are the business great.
The only thing missing from these new trolleys are go faster stripes !

Other then a Tuesday i go out with a HCT between 80-105kg and have 4 bag drops put in to a pouch box on a walk that takes around 3 hours.I could/would not do a walk at our place without one.

HCT has a recommend weight limit of 75kg

Why would managers want to run the company into the ground, they will be the first to go, the letters still need to go through the door with or without managers, Under the new owners of RMTNT you,ll have team leaders looking after 6-8 walks on 30quid a week more, managers beware youre on thin ice, unless
you "modernise" easy 6 managers=approx 180000 yearly 6 team leaders approx 9000 yearly same job done!

There are 2 different versions of HCT in use in RM Letters. A fabric sided (Mk 1) and a hard sided (Mk 2)

Mk1: 37 kg unladen; approved to carry 68 kg of mail; max gross weight 105 kg
Mk2: 47 kg unladen; approved to carry 75 kg of mail; max gross weight 122 kg - this version also has a lockable drawer capable of carrying 8 kg and a bundle holder for the working bundle (both of these form part of the 75 kg max)
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

wiganpostie wrote:I've used a "Light Weight" trolley only once so far and from that brief experience, I don't think it improves things in the slightest. The trolley itself weighs about 10 kilos, then you have your two 16 kg pouches slung over its sides, so you end up pulling close to 100 pounds along behind you, which, in time, I think will give me problems with my wrist/elbow/shoulder. And as mentioned, it slows you down as well.
I think your talking about the golf trolley type, yes :hmmmm

They are quite crap  You need to use a High Cap Trolley which is the ones that look like a red pram and you push. They are much better to use :Very Happy :Very Happy
