Re: to stop you cutting off !
our d.o.m at Barnsley office had us all round drop bag fitting, supossedly to thank us for the hard work over bad weather period, but basically to tell us that we are not allowed to cut off and bring mail back to the office but to tell them beforehand that we can't complete in time and we can discuss why, otherwords dom & 2 line managers can get you in a corner and throw everything but the kitchen sink at you until you sucumb to their way, had it myself just last week but i don't back down.

Re: to stop you cutting off !
brookstar our DOM is a total prick and has basically tried every single way with me and just the same as you i wont back down.
his latest tactic this week was to ask why i couldnt deliver last couple of bags just because there were problems the day before regarding bag drops, he almost announced it to the whole office whilst walking past the end of our line,
i walked up to him, dipped my head down to his level (about 4 foot nothing) and calmly but firmly said "it has nothing to do with yesterday, i simply have a prior appointment" the whole office was applauding and cheering.
its not only about winning battles, a little belittling goes a long way.

They just threaten us with "Wilful Delay"......possible criminal action for just wanting to work your contracted hours...

You are not running behind anything, your manager is using you to screw indoor hours from his budget.
Don't let them....take your break and cut off...it's the only long term solution.
I would agree with those sentiments, but it would only work if we all stood together and was being counted.
I remember cutting off and all the harasements i got too.The problem is that their is always someone who is willing to do the overtime, and they dont care about standing together.
When this happens how can you stand up for yourselves and show management that ,hey its not working.
What we really need is a union

I always thaught that if there has been no revision in your office , then its still a three and a half hour delivery span.
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

It depends what you read into this...ashadd wrote:I always thaught that if there has been no revision in your office , then its still a three and a half hour delivery span.
In units where agreement for change is required in advance of local deployment of the transformation project/delivery methods, consideration can be given to varying the span length provided that genuine and demonstrable solutions to weight and fatigue are introduced

I can Honestly say ...the Royal Mail is one of the worst employers I've ever experienced...and I'm fifty years of age.... I'm a new boy ..with only four years sevice.....everyone i talk to now hasn't got a good word to say about them...If I ran this company...this would really bother me....would it not you?....they really don't deserve the poeple they're got working for them!...

totally agree but our office couldn't stand together if the world depended on it, they're good at agreeing with yer to yer face but if push come to shove, we're ten weeks into p&l and already 90% are already into their old ways coming in early & no break so they can be out to complete or not be too long over their finish time, management wont stop them ( obviously ) union can't stop them and for the rest of us, we're just easy picking if we say anything

Re: to stop you cutting off !
The answer to this one is to invite them out with you to see if you are doing the job ok.brookstar wrote:our d.o.m at Barnsley office had us all round drop bag fitting, supossedly to thank us for the hard work over bad weather period, but basically to tell us that we are not allowed to cut off and bring mail back to the office but to tell them beforehand that we can't complete in time and we can discuss why, otherwords dom & 2 line managers can get you in a corner and throw everything but the kitchen sink at you until you sucumb to their way, had it myself just last week but i don't back down.
If you stick to Royal Mails spec and do the job with in the law (No Problem)
If they decline the offer just say you will be bring the mail back again until they agree to come out with you
I have been called a liar a few times and asked why unable to deliver on time (In one ear and out the other never did take me up on my invitition of joining me they just said make sure you make an apperance in every road so the customer can see you are about)

Re: to stop you cutting off !
There is no unity in the CWU. Everybody is out to look after themselves. You need a return to proper union power. All the members say that they're gonna stick together and never, ever do. Weak leadership, locally and especially nationally.maureentrix wrote:i have a meeting with dom to investigate returning to office with mail wich i told dom i could not deliver in time, he told me i had to attempt delivery , then when i got back accussed me of not trying to deliver . like other poster said 90% of office saying going to cut off but never do . Re: to stop you cutting off !
Have to agree with this. Even despite the bullying from management, many of us have decided to take this method. All the time people are out there delivering over their time RM will never see the problems. Cut off and bring it all back. It's the only way to show them how badly wrong they have got it.fishtank wrote:There is always time for your break...it's the work you don't have time for and that's not your fault.kingofmcr wrote: all i get is 4.48 and im supposed to get a 20 minute break included in that ..but rarely do ..because im always running behind
