if we stop now it will be hard to get mobilised again the momentum should be kept going
to call it off for an agreement yes but just for talk??????? NO FECKING WAY!

Dave Ward has been brilliant and i trust him 100%.I know Dave well and he is a top geezer, there is no way he will sell us down the creek.......it was he who rallied the troops for this fight and it was he who fought from the front against these two knobs in getting us united against them.Now we must support Dave and have faith in him sorting this mess out.Never before have i seen so many CWU workers angry at the way these muppets are trying to make a fast buck off our backs.I have been in this job 32 years and i have seen us making record profits for 20 of those years.Then the new breed of chairmen come along and tell us there must be change,we must modernise.We then had.......Customers must have their mail by 9.30........night dutys put in our office for the first time ever etc etc etc........Then the chairman gets a pat on the back and a fat cheque and fuxxs off.Then the next one comes in, he says we must change ,we must modernise we must do away with second delivery's make the rounds bigger etc etc etc the chairman gets a fat cheque and fuxxs off.....NOW we have these two wide boys out to make a fast buck off our backs telling us, we must change we must modernise YAWN ! AND THEN THEY WILL FUXX OFF with a large cheque while we wait for our next chairman who ,while waiting for his big cheque, will tell us we must change we must modernise.....COMPETITION !........they always cry ,WHAT FUXXING COMPETITION I SHOUT BACK......i am the only one deliverying on my round. I don't care what they say about mail volumes falling,in the 70's & 80's two bags and it was heavy,now 6,8 10 bags is the norm, BUT OF COURSE the two muppets say i am under worked and over paid.......COME ON GUYS & GALS LETS SUPPORT DAVE,and if he DOES GET STICHED UP BY THESE WANXXXS LETS SHOW THEM THAT WE ARE STILL UP FOR A FIGHT. THANK YOU.........[P.S. i am so pissed off that we are not out saturday as i had plans to have a late night friday, sleep in Saturday then a few beers with my boys as we watch Tottenham on the lunch time kick off.... DAMN.]

I just wish the Union would be given a chance.
From the outset Nationally the position has always been the same.. engage in meanigful talks and we will call of the strike.
They have agreed we have called of the strikes end of.
Now lets sit back and wait because whatever happens there will either be an agreement for US to vote on or talks will break down and autumn pressure kicks in and this business will come to a standstill.
Neither side can fail in these talks its last chance saloon but my message is stay calm and give Dave Billy Bob and whoever else a chance.

IT seems to me that there are anti union agitators on here looking at any excuse to union bash under the guise of being militants I am pleased their gonna talk we can always resume strikes if it does not work out. And we as a union would have to talk at some point why not now?

genesis if you're talking about me you've got things very wrong. I got the Unison membership at my old job from 2 to nearly 30 with only a couple of other interested people and no help from the branch let alone central office, also acted as an unofficial rep looking at people's contracts in my own time etc. And if I was a union basher I wouldn't have got up at 4am this morning to stand outside Mount Pleasant handing out leaflets before a full day at work.

You're right I do have very cynical views about trade unions in general - I'm happy to be a member of one, and I think most reps and stewards do good work although I've not yet worked somewhere where this has been the case. But as you go up the ladder it's more and more another set of managers who are very keen to keep people at work and productive.

Trade unions are institutions in their own right with their own set of interests seperate from their membership - sometimes they coincide, but usually when things begin to step up (wildcats and work to rule being two very, very common cases), they easily end up in opposition. If you look at any of the major struggles of the past 70-80 years it's often been the union leadership who've tipped the balance in the wrong direction. I will always take the side of the workers when this happens.
