Im not 100% sure about this but isnt there something about being made permanent if you have been doing those hours for a certain length of time. ie. if you've been working a 40 hour contract hour for say 12 months your entitled to have those hours permanent.kimski1976 wrote:i went from PT to FT Ive been on a temp contract for 1 year now. thank god revision suspended till at least august that gives me another 6 motnhs of FT before being put back down to PT. unless our thickheaded area manager will make me perm.

Re: PT to FT.
We had a guy argue that angle Celery and you're correct. He got made up to FT after covering a FT duty for, I believe 12 months. That's if your PTer is covering the same duty week in week out. However the way they get around it if it's just a "Floater" or "Reserve" is occasionally just bung him a PT duty for a couple of weeks. Therefore "Breaking" the qualifying period. Surely not?

i tihnk the law is they can keep you ona temp for 4 years. push the union about it. basically anyone on a temp will stay there until the revision. now that the revisions are on hold, they might have to do something about this. i will be pressing my manager about it.Biker Mouse wrote:Any hard and watertight agreement by RM & the CWU regarding this? ah so your not even on a temp full time contract? damn. but what is a 40 hour walk. you mean you are coming in doing ips, prepping your walk and taking it out? 2 guys in our office like that for years now there on 20 hours and they work 40 - 48 hrs a week.Biker Mouse wrote:Any hard and watertight agreement by RM & the CWU regarding this? Re: PT to FT.
the only thing to ensure proper contracts were given is to work your contract hours only. if our office did that im sure they would put almost everyone on at least a 25 and most on a 30. better than 20.

Hit the nail on the head kimshi
No need to make anyone up if we're all covering the work anyway!

Re: PT to FT.
But for that to have any affect, ALL delivery staff would have to do it! Including 20hr, 24hr, 30hr, non-union workers and the overtime junkies! Ain't gonna happen, unfortunately!kimski1976 wrote:the only thing to ensure proper contracts were given is to work your contract hours only. if our office did that im sure they would put almost everyone on at least a 25 and most on a 30. better than 20.

Re: PT to FT.
In our office of 12 P/T 6 are going to be made up to F/T once our revision comes in.
the rest of the P/T hours are going up from 32.5 to 35 or 36 cannot remember, mind you we have been arguing that P/T should have had 35 hrs since the introduction of the apprentices when we found out they were on longer hours, and any new entrents were being bought on on 35hrs as opposed to 32.5 that a lot of us was getting
BTW I have been F/T for 2yrs now but I was on FT for 12yrs before I reduced my hours in the early noughties

moyas slave wrote:hi, does anybody know of a DO that has promoted any PT colleagues up to full time as agreed in the BT2010?
it seems that whenever there is a problem at our DO they were throwing about the £1000 statement but that is wearing very thin, so now its the well how many of you want full time hours?
i dont personally but just feel there are others in the office being set up for a fall.
Our DOM has said he is currently fighting his Regional Manager to get more FT vacancies. Currently there are too many PT which has an impact on both the amount of mail coming back and the inward sorting. Apparently the Regional is reluctant to allow any more FT positions.

In our office 20/22.5 being made up to 30/32.5 think they have realised the proposed revision wont work otherwise.
