Anger at Royal Mail as parcel 'disappears' in Dundee East

Royal Mail's Dundee East depot has again come under fire after a Broughty Ferry woman's parcel, which the tracking system said had left the depot last Friday for delivery, apparently "disappeared."

Maggie Anderson said she had tracked her parcel, which was from Amazon, online and it had been marked "out for delivery" last Friday, January 14.

She told The Courier, "That to me means it's gone on the lorry, but the call centre woman in Belfast said that's not what that means, it just means that it's been processed.

"That probably means it's been thrown in a big pile with all the other backlog of mail."

She added, "It seems to have disappeared and is somewhere in limbo.

"I think it's ridiculous that I can't phone up the manager of that depot and ask where my mail is.

"He should be sacked over this whole situation, it's ridiculous."
'Downright lie'

Mrs Anderson said, "Customer services told me earlier this week that they would call me back but they didn't and when I phoned them they said it was logged as me expecting a letter from them.

"I told them it was a downright lie, I was specifically told someone would call me back."

She said that following The Courier's intervention, she had received a call from Royal Mail to say they were looking for the parcel.

A spokeswoman for Royal Mail said, "Dundee East Delivery Office is now almost back on track.

"We continue to have some parcels to deliver to customers and we have a plan in place to deliver these larger items through a series of extra deliveries which will continue until the end of this week."

She added, "Royal Mail again apologises to our customers for any disruption caused and they can be assured that we are completely focused on providing them with the service they expect and deserve.

"We are currently investigating Ms Anderson's inquiry."

Same old story eddie, they will not accept responsibility for one thing because the truth will come out, the majority are incompetent, disorganised, failed postmen/women
