A POSTAL worker who stole nearly 300 letters will be sentenced next month.
Lorna Bland, 26, from Lee Mount, Halifax, pleaded guilty to theft and delaying the post.
The thefts took place between December 6, 2006, and August 25, 2010.
Prosecutor Charles Watson called the theft of 284 postal packets a "significant breach of trust".
Malcolm Nowell, defending, said: "Clearly custody cannot be ruled out".
Bland will be sentenced on February 23 at Calderdale Magistrates Court.

It's certainly an odd case, 300 letters in 3 and a half years, it's very specific and very low for such a long period of time.

Apparently they actually found nearly 7000 items of mail found in her house, it filled 3 yorkies. The 300 she was charged over were seemingly the opened and empty packets that they found, It probably made the charge of theft easier to prosecute, rather than the going for lesser offence of delaying/tampering with mail for the full amount .
The saddening thing is the impact it had on innocent people working in the office, never mind the initial suspicion that some must have been under at the start of the investigation, but as an office many people had to spend weeks re-delivering the unopened stuff and there was even once incident where one poor postwoman was cornered in a garden by an angry resident who thought she was the person that had been stealing their mail.
