Does everyone on here really feel that the union are now about to shaft us, after we have all taken part in what has been a very succesfull period of IA. we should all be proud of ourselfs as CWU HQ is, the way we have stood together north,south,east and west we have proved unity is strengh and that the two jokers can not grind us or our union down.
Lets give Dave and Billy a chance not slate them at the very 1st oppertunity giving management what they want by trying to divide us.
If we all stick together do our jobs properly then we will prove to RM that neither us or this union will bow down to bully boy tactics.

We should be taking action until RM agree to:

scrapping unagreed changes to attendance;
no further job losses;
no changes to pensions for either existing or future workforce'
a consolidated pay increase at LEAST in line with inflation.

You hit the nail on the head. What's to negotiate? They're only gonna string us along and offer us the same shitty deal, or a slightly less shitty deal. It's not that I don't trust the CWU, it's just that I don't think you can negotiate with these people.

I think the union dug themselves a hole by saying that if RM entered meaningful negotiation's they would call off the strikes. RM have called their bluff and the PEC had no choice but to Suspend the strikes. Tactically this position was good for the union as it made the RM look like the bad guys. However strategically it may come back and bite them.

Now is not the time for faint hearts we trusted the union this far and they know how hard we fought. After previous episodes I don't see the Union coming up with a deal that would effectively be committing suicide, and cause members to quit en mass.

Good post. On hindsight (after my previous rants!), the CWU really shouldn't sell us short now. However, RM HAVE to reach some sort of agreement with them, and on recent evidence, they won't - so was it wise to suspend? "Meaningful negotiations" was in actual fact a get out clause for RM because they were in the deepest, largest shithole you've ever seen. If I/A had continued for another couple of weeks, i really do think AC/Al would've been called in by 10 Downing St to explain themselves. They were f***ing lucky, and as usual characters like them ALWAYS survive, no matter how ruthless, ignorant, small minded, selfish wanks they've shown to be.

Yesterday is was 1-0 CWU, today a possible own goal by the union - back to the drawing board

1. What has brought the 2 sides to `talks` is the fact that we all stood TOGETHER!! ( only a small % did not)) it was this collective togetherness that brought little and large to the table! Remember they did not want to NEGOTIATE ANYTHING!. They wanted to impose everything!

2. In my Opinion added to us all sticking together, was the Fact that the Union listened to us and after the the 1st two strikes, which I belived acheived Nothing!
and changed to TACTICS which were and will ALLOW us if nesscessary to Win this dispute, IF WE NEED TO `START` AGAIN. So, if we discount the 1st two days (tough I know) what brought Uncle Al up short, were just 2 days of rolling action. This coupled with the `Withdrawl of good will` ( call it what you like) AND WHICH HAS MADE THE DOMS LIFE`S HELL (BLOODY GOOD JOB) has I believe got the Message over to AL &C THAT WE WILL NOT BE `WALKED OVER`.

3.The only other time that Al has come to the table was when there was the `Unofficial Action of `last time`

4. I THINK THIS HAS AGAIN BEEN ONE OF THE FEW OCCASSIONS IN HIS BUSINESS `LIFE` when he has not been able to bully his way to want he wants!

5. If He needs to start again he knows that WE WILL ALSO!

6. Remember the Union is US they? must do as we wish, and I suspect that there will have to be a bit of give and take on both sides? That is NEGOTIATION!

Look, I agree, if we continue to work to 318's and do the job properly, then we can still show business to RM. Thats all it takes. Just coz everything has been suspended, doesn't mean fleeing around in vans, sorting like the tazmanian devil, pushing more than one container at a time, not weighing your bags, etc.

Do our job properly AND SHOW RM we can still stuff it up them and highlight the problem that we need more staff!!!

JUST AWOKEN FROM A KIP IN FRONT OF TENDULKAR & CO. AND HAVE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE SUSPENSION. I HAVE THAT CRAZY WORRIED SENSATION THAT CAME OVER ME WHEN THE STRIKES STARTED, I ADMIT THAT IA FRIGHTENED ME, BUT I WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT MY COLLEAGUES. NOW ITS SUSPENDED I'M FRIGHTENED AGAIN, AND I'M ON THE SIDE OF YOU GUYS WHO WANTED THE ROLLING STRIKES TO CONTINUE.

There seems to be a lot of people slagging DW and BH at the moment but talks have been going on for a week now so they must have some idea of what the agreement is going to look like or at least the basics. I don't think the strikes would have been pulled if there was no chance of getting something worth recommending, they may have just saved 160,000 postmen 2+ days pay but most importantly If the deal isn't good enough or talks fail then I for one will be back out in September when it will hurt RM a lot more but it will be the members that decide not DW or BH.
In over 20 years I've seen both the good strikes and the Johnson Keggie sell-outs, I'll wait to see the details before hanging them.

I think everyone should calm down. We were all prepared to lose another 2 days pay in the next band of rolling strikes, so if the talks fail and we enter more rolling strikes in september we will be no worse off than we were a couple of hours ago. RM know that the same kind of IA in september will hit them much harder. In any case a 'sold down the river deal' would still have to be voted on by us.

bloody well spot on TROJAN . . . . . the CWU said from day one that any meaningful talks would halt the IA and they've kept their word, that makes them better than Leighton already, it also means that Leighton must have brought something useful to the meeting else he would have been ignored.

Give the CWU a chance to prove themselves before standing them against the wall and in the meantime keep up the working to your 318 and the removal of all goodwill. . . . . we're not done just yet
