I don't think it was as simple as that. Delivery Offices in London and other big cities also voted against the Way Forward.
But John Keggie was touring the country telling branches that it was just the 'Overtime Barons' in London who opposed it,
pitting one section of the membership against the other. It was a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul, when it should have been
Royal Mail who paid for a better basic wage.
And the Way Forward was only carried on a second vote by about 1,200 votes IIRC

it was only double time on a saturday
No, Saturday and Sunday were 'double time' anyway, but Mon-Fri OT was also double time after the first 12 hours.
People in my MC were trying to do 6 hours OT on Monday and Tuesday, so that they would be on double time on Wednesday.
I used to do 4 hours Mon-Wed and would be on double time on Thursday and Friday.
thats rubbish about double time after 12 hrs what planet are you on ? ive done 22 yrs :shhhhh

And I've done 30. And I do know it was double time after 12 hours.
And we got Night Duty Allowance for any OT between 1900-0600.

And yes a lot to do with what you short sighted do staff did under way forward.
Our only dissapointment is that you are not doing more . If you had of supported us we would have been gutted you now dont get paid for them - i did my spell on footies over 20yrs ago and enjoyed the extra dosh -
It is only my opinion but i knew somewhere down the line you would have to pay for ya fantastic decade ago pay rise
Good luck with the mail centre rationalisation program then perstop tray.
Privatisation should be a larf as well...i would imagine filling the M/Cs with minimum wage casuals would be first on the shopping list.
I wouldn't wish that on most of my M/C colleagues but for you......i'll make an exception.
Solidarity forever. :cuppa
Just had our rationalisation and am working very happily in one of the new mail centres
As for privatistion we will wait and see but i have the service in to take redundancy quite comfotablly as i am over 60 with 40 yrs plus service :cuppa thank you for your concern
