No they are not..........Revisions are going on around the UK.........maybe they have been halted in a specific area for whatever reason but not a National issue.

Our office was practicaly forced into signing this off, by very iffy ballot, on friday morning.

My own opinion is that the bundled revisions will be delayed until those that are in already are resolved.
That's just common sense,the press attention has been embarrassing and damaging to the company and the implementation costs of these revisions have been frightening.
That aside Lovejoy...there is no doubt that there is a "rumour" circulating amongst management that they are very close to pulling the plug on the whole thing and moving modernisation ahead at their own pace.
This is very unsettling for members even if there is no foundation to the rumours...they didn't start on this site,they started amongst management and that is very worrying.

There was never any credence to the rumour. This modernisation programme is RoyalMail/CWU flagship. They've bet the farm on it and spent all the borrowed cash on the equipment. It is going to have to work, come hell or high water. It may well have slowed down in some areas, at least the real revisions, but the self starters will be rolled out and hailed as a success until such time as the problems are ironed out on the real revisions.

Nice to see Lovejoy back again....some say he's had more comebacks than Little Richard

On a national basis both the bundled and IWT revisions are going ahead. I know for a fact a whole host are going in over the next few weeks for example.
There will always be variations to this in certain areas - poor planners, lack of CWU / member involvement etc leading to revisions being pulled / delayed. On the whole though there seems to be no signs that RM are pulling back on the implementation on a nationwide basis. This may change if for example the IR climate worsens but atm both types of revisions are being planned / implemented as we speak.

One thing is for sure, it would certainly help to have a planner who has local knowledge. I know that there is input from members and managers but for some reason these planners seem to mistrust their judgement and head down the road georoute proposes. This is particularly obvious when planning the loops, which should be tested prior to implementation.........in our case that wasn't done due to the time element. It should also be done in stages and not all at once. In that way problems can be dealt with in isolation without affecting the whole revision. Yes it will take longer BUT it will be right at the end of the day.

The problem with geo-route is that at it's heart is a program to deliver what IT considers the most efficient route.
It doesn't really matter what input you have beforehand because the software will override this in the most nonsensical way if IT considers it to be more efficient.
Even with an up to date A+ it will chew it up and spit out garbage.
I have a block of sheltered housing on my delivery which runs 1-10 on the bottom floor 11-20 on the next floor and 21-30 on the top floor....simple you would think.
Despite this georoute spat out 4,5,6,1,2,3,12,7,8,16,17,22,23...etc as what it considered to be the most efficient route...unfortunately the planner would not accept that this was garbage and things got quite heated,
This nonsense has been repeated on most of the duties and explains why we have had a planner for over a year and he will be with us a while yet.

Our original planner was with us for months and then changed at the 11th hour. The revision went in and the planner went out..........haven't seen him since.
The OPALS need amending but because of the backlog we haven't been able to get them right yet........they are the worst I have seen, totally disjointed.

I am not interested in the local knowledge of the planner.
S/he is there to crunch numbers - not to provide any input.
If they have no local knowledge you won't have to listen to - " I could do that in 30 minutes" etc etc.

The other problem with planners is they are staring unemployment in the face.
What are RM going to do with a whole battallion of planners when the revisions are done?
Consequently they are desparate to please their masters rather than do a good job.

This is from one of the most respected posters on the forum , he tells us THIS above. For me, that just sums up the state of play. . If the planners even try to argue against Fishtank on the above scenario, we should all be very afraid.Ludicrous.
