I think I did lapsing twice last year, and all because I come in at my due time, take my breaks and won't buckle to their bullying :Very Happy

we are not lapsing but because of sick they are taking people off their walks and putting casuals in place ,then using the experienced posties on other rounds ,royal mail is the only place i know were experience puts you in a disadvantage because they can throw you anywere .

Yep, same, we had 2 weeks off lapsing leading up to Christmas.

Now back on it.

Duty holder taken off

Everyone else does part of his duty as well as their own.
I thought that was "absorption" Our admin man is always talking about lapsing but hell would freeze over before our Union bloke would allow a duty holder to be taken off their walks!

You lapse and absorb(yes it's the same thing) because 'you can'!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

IIRC Lapsing and absorbing mean the same thing to the posties but there is a difference.

Lapsing - is planned and accounted for - ie Summer Lapsing etc.

Absorption - is unplanned - first day sick absence etc

All depends on what the DIM thinks he can get away with. :no no Strange how in my office some people simply say, "Sorry I haven't got time to do it" (and nothing's said) and other people are given a hard time. Not sure if's down to Favouritism or the DIMs figured out some people will not be walked upon!! :mad
Either way if we all said NO then maybe they'd have to employ more Full-Time Posties :pray

I've always believed it was short for "collapsing" a walk/walks.

I was off on Monday but apparently we lapsed a round. What gets me is its supposed to be SUMMER lapsing, so why the hell are we doing it in winter ?!?!?
Just say NO ....to the new agreement.
