It is a scandal.Something that our investigative journalists have missed or plain failed to understand.Huge amounts of money ,taxpayers money, is being siphoned off to leech mail companies who have to do nothing for it.The British tax payer has subsidised the erosion of their own cherished service and even more incredibly will now pick up the bill for the maintenance of the Universal Service Obligation whilst the privateers prepare to cash in.Where have all the talking heads like Robert Peston been ?Where have our MP's been ?What a bunch of prize pillocks.Or just part of the corruption that seems to inhabit our various institutions these days.It makes me so angry I cant tell you. :ncfo :vcfo :dcfo

EU directives have been ignored before NT...and since.
It takes a European Union Court of Justice ruling to force the implementation of a directive and those things can be spun out for decades.
The truth is DSA didn't have to happen when it did...it could have been held off until we were more able to deal with it....granted that may have been never.

How could the EU fine Royal Mail if as a result of a lawful ballot the workforce refused to handle DSA.
How could they justify imposing a fine when DSA has not been imposed in other EU countries.

The old school tie brigade known as the British judiciary might however fine the union

I have noticed on firms collections,over the past few months,that the high volume posters in my area,ie council offices,hospital,local housing assoc. to name but a few, still maintain a Royal Mail collection but they are backed up by TNT.These compeditors/parasites pick up the bulk of the mail and im talking about thousands of letters on a daily basis We are a small D.O. so if you multiply this on a national scale the figures would be quite staggering.So does anyone know what terms and conditions TNT are offering our customers?

FFS B, the 35 hour week has been on the agenda since I started work many years ago, they'll never agree to it, they really want us to work for 90 hours per week for a few dollars................................greedy bastards will never be satisfied.

I think the point B is trying to make is that you can dress it up in different clothes.
The problem with that is that the public don't do subtle and the press go with the "Greedy Posties want £500 and a 35hr week" angle and the whole point and message about DSA is lost.
Still if want to strike for a 35hr wk and a £500 basic and forget about DSA,i'm up for it.
