DSA is the bete noire .My own estimates suggest that Royal Mail is losing out on half a billion a year in revenue ( calculated by the loss per item and the profit no longer garnered) Changes to Royal Mail have been made to accommodate this evil.Thats 500 million that could have paid off part of the pension deficit or used by the govt to mitigate the disaster caused by bankers and
their friends.
A question I have long asked is why the CWU did not mount a legal challenge to this dsa on behalf of us who have to deliver it.

How - would be the first question. The CWU is flawed at the moment no denying that unless you have been blindfolded, but they do have the structure and knowledge needed to negotiate with RM. Without that structure and influence and knowledge I am afraid any deal we would make with RM would be badly flawed and IMO a lot worse than we would have got without the CWU.demon wrote:could be a good thing for us f**k the union get our own deal of royal mail it will be better than the union would get us
The deal was crap and IMHO if people had read and understood its implications and voted on their own understanding then it would have been voted down however I still think an agreement out-with the CWU would have been far worse and a lot more destructive to our T&Cs. I criticise the CWU and the BT2010 debacle but I also realise whilst its not the best deal we could have had, its also not the worst by far.

In my opinion they were frightened off by the scare stories put about by both Royal Mail and TNT that without the DSA agreement the latter would simply put it's own delivery strategy in place.Wessex wrote: A question I have long asked is why the CWU did not mount a legal challenge to this dsa on behalf of us who have to deliver it.
Better to have the work for CWU members at a loss than not to have the work at all.
You can see the logic...just....if it wasn't built on a lie.
No company would take on the costs of a LARGE scale, time sensitive delivery network from scratch.
However if one were to come up for sale in the near future, ready built and at a reasonable cost....who knows?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Easy, but hardly original. I'd have thought even you could come up with a better reply. Nuff said.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:There you go makes sense now NTNight Tonic wrote:Nothing like wallowing in misery to cheer you up. Next.Hell Mail

Re: Posties boost battle to save Royal Mail
And we have ended up in a situation where the Union has been dealing with the symptoms caused by DSA rather than tackle the root cause, as a result it has been death by a thousand cuts .Although of course it is not the Unions job to run Royal Mail but with all that money going to the Labour party could they have not at least educated the politicians. As it is it has taken Moya Greene to highlight the discrepancies re DSA with the Union seemingly following behind. And her agenda is almost certainly not for our benefit.Talking of which does anybody know the terms of her contract or indeed length of tenure ?fishtank wrote:In my opinion they were frightened off by the scare stories put about by both Royal Mail and TNT that without the DSA agreement the latter would simply put it's own delivery strategy in place.Wessex wrote: A question I have long asked is why the CWU did not mount a legal challenge to this dsa on behalf of us who have to deliver it.
