Mail centres in need!!

Lets start this off , lets get a report of whats happening in mail centres all over the country, I read on here that mail is delayed in mail centres all over the place and can't believe it!! Theirs someone on about manchester with problems and i was reading about another MC with containers in the car park holding mail . Cardiff mail centre has no back log, so whats going on in the other ones??? They can't still be blameing the snow

I am on the delivery side but someone from mail centers will be along in a while.

I would guess its due to cutting back jobs so the staff level was not able to cope with the xmas push and the large amount of mailsort which we have to deal with after christmas.

Liverpool mail centre was closed in November and moved to Warrington - as was Crewe and a substantial part of Bolton's mail centres.
this has lead to a unmitigated disaster this xmas period. i'm still delivering christmas cards dated as early as the 7/8th december which is just straight embarassing or at the very least ,unprofessional.
Warrington is cleary overrun - a marque was put up "temporarily" to hold mail - now being used to sort mail ! it will be there for the long term i hear.
what i want to know is who is accountable for this massive error in managerial judgement?
heads should role for the epic fail this xmas period.
so who's head should i be gunning for?

I think im right in saying, most members on here, who post comments, are not mail centre staff, or at least a 80/20 split Delivery/ other. These comments answer more of our questions (in delivery ) than many others. If the mail centre issues REALLY are so bad, no wonder the deliveries are in such a mess. Please do not think this is a dig at mail centre staff, quite the opposite , i for one am grateful that i have an insight as to where the main issues lie/start. We have NO HOPE of doing the job we are paid to do WITHIN OUR PAID HOURS , if the processing function/distribution is in disarray. But we will keep beating ourselves up about it! Keep us in the picture guys regarding Manchester and other MCs. Thanks.

the quantity of wrong mail from our mail centre over christmas was disgusting, maybe mail was being sorted anywhere, to get it out of the mail centre.
Something is definitely wrong with royal mail, managers keep quiet.

Over the last two years OL then SK and then BL mail was transfered into Manchester MC but not all the staff from those offices came to Manchester some took VR and most of the BL staff opted to go to Warrington with the WN mail. Result to much work and not enough staff. Then before christmas OL staff were offered the chance to go back to OL on a day shift and they went, same with BL staff most of them returned to BL for three weeks prior to christmas. We still have casuals work in the MC and still have trailers in the yard with Mailsort and D2D and 1st and 2nd class packets (mostly Amazon) and probably tracked as well. They are still asking for weekend off staff to work Satudray and Sunday on all shifts. We will probably be clear by the end of the month (which month is anyones guess)

Putting all your eggs into one basket is clearly not the done thing as we have found out with Warrington and Manchester not being able to cope where in recent years the other offices Liverpool, Bolton, Stockport and Crewe all did the job effectively.

Maybe heads should roll for the lunacy that has insued starting with people who think of these ideas but don''t realise the bigger picture that this has caused.

Just shows their blinkered approach I'm afraid and top brass not wanting to admit that it has all gone wrong from Delivery to Mail Centre changes.

Just seems that this so called modernisation and money from the goverment is causing more problems then they care to admit.

Modernisation is not scrubbing up 5 CFC's and using them in a soon to be World Class MC, IMP's are better then CFC's I am suprised to have so many unfranked Christmas Cards this year that were local. Yes the iLSM's are an excellent bit of kit along with the T2K but like I have said taking so much mail from such a big area is simply not working especially in an office that is not big enough.

RM only took the building as it is in the middle of nowhere and in the day of age no one would purchase it for anything else, so RM were stuck with a white elephant.

RM need a to ask serious questions about the so called modernisation programme, we all know they are trying to trim it down and make it look good for potential foreign investors but will that work? It could be a case that potential investors may drop these so called supercentres and drop back to smaller strategic offices in a few years down the line.
