8 so far for me and its still a fixed day off in the middle of the week.
shocking !!!. i just have to check the sheet on a saturday morning to see my day off for the week ahead, i cant plan a single thing :mad ......
Should be sorted a week in advance within reason, see your rep as he 'should' have resources meetings.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This is something i don't get and it's not hard.

You have a set of reserves let's say 10,you've got say 8 bods on holiday the following week, you go down the reserve list in seniority order and they take their pick.
It's fair and it's not hard.

Next lesson next week, how to have reserves on an aggregate system so they get their fair share of weekends off.

Now a word from our sponsors....

:d'oh!

I've just moved to a new DO. Previously I have always (and insisted upon) had one long weekend in six.

Was told that my day off was a Tuesday!!! The lightest day of the week!!!.

Have expressed my chagrin about this ... and was told that I could have certain Saturdays off if i gave them notice.

Okay ; i will live with that for the moment. .. But how can it be that alomost nobody in the office , apart from floats , gets a Saturday off?

My contract states that that is my entiltlement.

All bollocks ; or is this sort of local agreement?

It's called the 'wank dom and wank union rep' agreement.
If you are a reserve you should have the day off of what duty you cover, you cover mine next week and it's a friday, you get friday, ect ect.

PS:Did you mean everybody in the office 'apart' from floats?

Everybody in the office apart from the floats is the way I have been told.
The majority get no long weekends. Each duty has a fixed day off. This just cannot be right.

It really is not difficukt to have rotating days off. Or am I completely stupid!!!

If you have fixed days off (local agreement) then you are screwed, there's nothing you can do about it until you have a revision and things change.
