Hey hey.
I'm a casual and just had my contract renewed, but I'm on my two week break right now before it starts up again.
I understand that I should get some holiday pay next week but was wondering how it's worked out? Generally I've done 3 days a week except over Christmas where I generally did Mon-Fri, all on nights.
Any help would be appreciated.

They must have changed the rules since I was a Casula in the '90's. We weren't entitled to any holiday pay. But I hope you're right about how things are now. Hopefully someone who's more up-to-date will be able to help.

Well checking through my payslips on my last 2 week break before renewal I got holiday pay of about £100, so I'm guessing I'm due a little more as on that contract (July-September) I didn't get much work at all. About £60 short on my last payslip anyway which I've taken up with my book room so hopefully that comes through next week anyway.

Excellent! It's about time they started doing that. I had a gap of nearly a month, between my two stints as a Casual, and didn't get a penny during that time. And I was also told that I couldn't get any paid leave. At least something's changed for the better over the last decade or so.

If you are a casual and are from an agency then it is nothing to do with us(With that i mean RM and the managent)you have to contact your agency.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

They're using them in a couple of offices near me. But not at my office, so I haven't been able to ask them about it. Surely there must be someone on here, who's more up-to-date with how it works than me.

Casuals are employed by the hour and can be terminated at a moment's notice.
