Re: universal service obligation 'overruled'
I posted in another thread that if ANY part of a delivery went then it was NOT considered a failure..........consequently on park and loop 2 rows of one delivery and 2 rows of the second will be delivered and the next day the other 2 would be delivered................in some cases it is as little as 2 bundles, let alone rows and take my word for it..............this is not the work of individual DOMs but a serious strategy to clear the backlog...........this has been going on for some time and I cannot say that I have noticed any improvement.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You're both right.
Deliveries not covered AND overall traffic failure is reported.
So an attempt at a delivery means that it doesn't go down as a "delivery not covered" but whatever is left should be counted in the overall traffic failure..

Re: universal service obligation 'overruled'
If a delivery does not get completed it's a failure of the USO.If it's not reported it's naughty.
2 screws down our way were not reporting cut offs until the office rep made a noise higher up and stirred some s**t.
Both were moved on.
And yes in time honored fashion the DOM got a promotion.

I know there's nothing you or I can do directly about a situation like that. It's the Management's responsibility. That's why I was suggesting reporting the situation to someone who CAN do something about it. Either with fines, or bad publicity. The Managers are ignoring their LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that the deliveries are attempted. You said it yourself: Some weren't attempted for 5 days. And their solution, is to only deliver on alternate days. Which as I'm sure you've noticed already, doesn't do anything about the backlog. The same amount of Mail is going out every day. But there's more to each house, each time you deliver.skull wrote:The office has had very high sickness rates of 15-20% since November but they have just about kept everything going through overtime . Last week due to staff suffering from fatigue and being demoralised we saw a massive reduction in overtime being worked so the office fell apart within days . Even the office managers who were pulling more than their weight to keep the office clear have thrown the towel in . I don't know how bad things have to get to get casual workers drafted in .andy2007 wrote:Why hadn't the other deliveries gone out for 5 days?![]()

Has your Manager never heard of Agency, or Casual workers, if there aren't enough of you?![]()
If it wasn't because of the weather. Then I think it's way past time, that Postcomm got involved. Or better yet, the Press.
IT is sad but I'm starting to get used to the sight of mail not going out . To sort the disaster of revision out is way above my pay grade . So for now it's keep calm , do the best I can but sadly we will only be able to clear our two frames occasionally .
If you had seen in the back of our van today it looked like someone had driven round a race track over 100 mph , there was stuff all over the place . I can't think of a way to put everything in so it's tidy . I think we get one minute to replenish our trolley bags , I think the planners have been a little optomistic with that one .
