Re: d2ds are 'more important'
the adr and h&s rep were in today, to 'assess' the situation, after being asked to, by the office rep. they reckon the d2d situation will be pulled in about a week. then they,ll just be left lying around the office again. we most certainly do need more hours in the office. even the assistant lino has said they have cut FAR too much. but its going to go on cos its seems like there is no going back to the way it was, and they wont admit they,ve made a MASSIVE cock-up. even without the d2d in the frame, mail is being left EVERY day, and thats after they,ve put nightshifts back on. and people starting at 5am (45mins early...on docket). its not a true reflection of how bad it really is.....happy daysPOSTMAN wrote:Davey, best you get your rep to flag everything you've just told us to your ADR or DIV rep ASAP.

Re: d2ds are 'more important'
well this is it. (you are spot on by the way, cutting the indoor work so you finish on time, and dont bring any back)...it isnt being addressed, the dom is not informing his superiors,(as we,ve been informed), so senior management think everthing is hunky dory. maybe its because he,s afraid of getting his arse kicked. apparently a neighbouring dom has come clean about the state of his office and got a right bollicking. but thats neither here nor there. the point is,...its a total disaster, its a precurser to being privatised.fishtank wrote:You see i really don't get this at all.daveyeff wrote:before you are due out on the street.fishtank wrote:This bit i don't get...not enough time before what exactly?daveyeff wrote: theres normally not enough time to prep ANY d2d.
Are management manipulating the situation so that you are effectively "cutting off" indoor work so that you don't "cut off" outdoor work?
If that's the case then what has your rep said about it?...that's what a weekly resource meeting is for.
Your DOM needs his arse kicked...if there isn't enough time to cover the indoor work then that needs to be addressed and resourced...not ignored.![]()
Some of these "managers" wouldn't last 5 minutes on the outside world.

Re: d2ds are 'more important'
its seems to be more favourable to pre-collate them(lump them together) rather than put them in as separate lots, especially if you,ve got 4,5 or 6 sets. either way, unpacking them and putting them on your fitting prior to boxing them all in, is all time consuming anyway, which does,nt seem to have been taken into account when the duty times and sizes where made up. thanks anyway.Dorset Plodder wrote:Hi Daveyeff I know some of these walks are getting horrendous but most of our frames are only single slots (not doubled up) so a column is only 4 rows of 20 slots = 80 Delivery points. We don't use the top row as per H&S. (Although some people have started to use them for the Proposed Revision changes, which I disagree with as I believe the max for a Frame is meant to be 4 columns plus 2 wings.)
Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs but have you tried stacking the D2Ds in piles on your bench and then just taking one off the top of each pile before you throw it in? I still see some people in our office throw one lot off and then go round the frame with further D2Ds no wonder it takes them so long

Re: d2ds are 'more important'
it does make sense to work in colums with p&l then one man does not have to hit every house and its shared out with his partner, well thats how we do it f**k what they say as there not delivering them.Wessex wrote:It can make some sense to do columns , that way the 20 percent is then distributed over all pouches rather than 1 or 2.If everybody was singing from the same hymn sheet it could work but hey this is royal mail

Isn,t it about time that we as employees blow the whistle on these managers that are witholding the truth, about the state of play in the delivery offices. It is we that are having to suffer the consequences of mindless and corrupt management.

To the original poster, at least you have a time (9.10am) that you are supposed to leave the office.
Only a few people left my office today ta 9.10am and they have a longer way to travel. We regularly leave around 9.30 or sometime after 10.00am.
Today, I left at 9.45am (short day) and the assistant manager wanted me to do a lapse - joke! I have 17 signed/specials and still loads of packets from Xmas. I was over by 1 hour and cannot be bothered anymore with claiming and arguing about money and cutting off. Arguments with our young (f) manager is not worth it - it might lead to a sack or being called a bully or sexist.
Doing d2d in columns is the best way - it reduces the load and is fairer and more accountable as regards floaters or sick days.
I was surprised when the CWU/Royal Mail said d2d should be done last in their bulletin - its stupid trying to stuff d2d in after the mail esp when you have 5 or more. And it just gives ppl an excuse not to do them because of time pressures.
