Royal Mail workers have been hailed after delivering a Christmas card to a Preston family – despite it not having a proper address on the envelope.


Peter Houghton, 75, of Belmont Avenue, Ribbleton, was shocked when he received the card from the disabled son of his former RAF colleague Robert Esslemont, who lives in Aberdeen.

Autistic Michael Esslemont addressed the card to the family, but the address was incomplete, including no postcode, and the handwriting was barely legible.

Great-grandfather Peter said: “Royal Mail take some flack when they get things wrong

“So I think it is only fair we congratulate them when they get it right.

“They went out of their way to make sure this card got to us. It was really nice of whoever was responsible.”
