In terms of not being sensible its all about replotting of delivery walks and resigns and ending up on a different duty and re learning the IPS and then doing it ALL OVER AGAIN in 12 months time when 39 hr week sequenced mail and delivery methods come along.

The mbrs still dont see the sense in having two revisions their view is do it ALL in one go.
But according to you there will be two revisions, the pissant one for £200 and then "THE BIG ONE" when you do the delivery method and walk sequencing. The fall down in your premise is that the opals and walks will change again on the walk sequencing which of course is bullshit. The machinery sequences the mail to whatever the walk is................it would be much simpler to have that already in place when the sequencing takes place.

Switching away from bikes and pouches may well be crap according to your members BUT NOT according to the agreement by the CWU and Royal Mail. I agree with fishtank that those most in favour of the agreement will be the ones most reluctant to apply it................as per usual.

The key components of operational transformation are:

The introduction of new machinery/technology aligned to a new six-day standardised workplan.

Improved delivery methods, equipment and ways of working.

A mail centre and RDC rationalisation programme that provides a lean, fit-for–purpose, standardised and modern pipeline.

To provide an operational platform to respond effectively to volume decline and the opportunity for developing new products and services.

The introduction of world class methods and working practices delivered by fully engaged, motivated and better rewarded employees.

Working with employees to achieve world class productivity
It would be rather difficult to introduce Improved delivery methods, equipment and ways of working without a revision Daz.....unless you know something i don't.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

That Mr fishtank is perfect, now is there any official as in the agreement as to when and how in the 3 year transformation period improved delivery methods are to take place. Stand alone or can it be intergrated with the sequenced mail revision.

My DO is actually overdue for delivery methods, it was due last year I belive and the planner was all lined up but then RML changed their mind and said your not having a planner and without a planner improved delivery methods planning dosent take place. I think we were pencilled in pre BT2010 so perhaps that has somehow delayed delivery methods.

Interestingly RML have gone for the five big offices first in our postcode area, the medium and small offices have to wait.

Phase 3 lapsing/absorbing is all year round not just summer.

Summer lapsing is phase 2

Well if the delivery method and sequenced revision take place together, which is the £200 and £800 then why would you expect £200 for neither of those revisions.

Thing is,we are so short staffed nobody can be freed up to go & work with the planner as there's nobody to cover their walk.

Royal Mail wont take on any new bod's cos they dont think they'll need them once the revision kicks in!

Catch 22. :left:
Perhaps you could remind them that they have access to Agency Workers. :d'oh!

Just more evidence that they can't think anything through!
Im reminding them off f-all.

The longer this revision is delayed the better pal. :whistle
“Shorts,in this weather?!”

“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”

“What’s she been ordering now?”

Where in the uk where these revisions tested before they where set up they must have been somewhere like Greendale village (postman pats delivery), because they just dont work. when you tell managers you need help or you cant extend you just get a feeling they think you are telling lies,.

Expect and having been informed by the RM powers that be we will be receiving £200 for the current revising of duties are two different things.

One can only assume senior mangers responsible for that have the authority to do that or have cleared the £200 pay out on self starters with their national level boss who I presume is Higson above regional director level?

Right at the very start in fact before any planning or IWT work got underway the CWU and RML powers that be struck a agreement that allowed for attendance patterns and £200 payment to be achived for the membership despite RM not intending to send planners to every office. No planners led to the self starter revisions coming into being. Of course as the name implies its all about making a start on the buissness transformation agreement implementation, a part of BT2010 is less people working for RML which in plain english is savings. As we know savings are very important to RML mangement. Now there was no way on earth CWU are just going to sit back and allow RML to make a start without any of the sections of BT2010 that benefit the mbrs being implented as well so agreement was reached that allows for attendance patterns to be implemented and duties revised to taking into account the hours reduction that IWT comes up with and the first of the three payments to be made which obvisouly was to be £200.

Some will no doubt be of the view CWU should have said thanks but no thanks if youve not got a planner then no starting of implementing the agreement. Fair enough, but my own view is that Im supportive of the CWU approach to RM not having or even willing to send out planner to every D.O thus leading to the creation of self starter revisions with some level of benefit to the CWU membership.

It's a very interesting point you make there BD, " the creation of self starter revisions" - pity we weren't informed of them as well, pity we all couldn't cling on to the old ways , with bikes and pouches and early starts and on the job finishes.............

Summer lapsing is phase 2
again,i'm well aware of what should take place, but when a duty is set aside, and a duty holder removed permanently, this is done in the name of summer 'savings' and has nothing to do with lapsing or equalising duties,as i mentioned earlier,if i prep(20mins)4 D2D's and deliver them(25mins)thats 3 1/4 of an hour more work than my colleague who doesn't have any, because when we've been released, effectively we've been placed on job and finish.
i'm not having a go at you Big Daz,but these 'agreements' aren't worth the paper their written on.

You sound like your blaming the workers/members, please assure me that you accept that if RML choose to do big offices first then move on to medium size ones that is not the fault of the workforce? I mean how on earth could we not use bikes and pouches when there are no HCTS and vans to use? :hmmmm

I thought early starts went in 2007 when RML took EA :hmmmm

Im sure I dont need to remind you that we are a democratic unon and therefore the mbrs have the democratic right to vote no if they so wish to do so otherwise whats the point of a local ballot? :hmmmm

A local ballot can change how you go about implementing delivery methods and WSMs revisions NOT whether or not you have them........that has already been agreed by the 2010 & Beyond ballot, which as you may recall WAS accepted by the membership, including yours. The timing of the revision is not in question, it is the fact of payment for what in effect is, by your own account now, a non revision, if there are no vans and no HCTs then it is not a revision is it? And yet you still expect to get the same money as offices who HAVE implemented the revision.

On site finishes BD, are they still in your mix???
