There is also a limit to how many pieces on mail you can put in the slot fo each property, and some slots have 2 properties.
Prep time has not been well calculated - deliberately;and the managers dont give a damn anyways. The Unfairness is just mind-blowing. I have a round with more than 600 delivery points and prepping 5-6 d2d takes more than 25 minutes and then the delivery...
I like my d2d in the frame first and then the letters in front of the d2d not trying to stuff d2d into slots when the whole thing is crammed with letters and flats. And the double-property slots are much easier to do when the d2d is in first. Most of my misdeliveries or flaffing about are due to d2d...

Re: The 'How was your D2D today?' thread
These times are garbage and prepping 6 into a double slot after you've prepped your mail is laughable but remember these times are only guidelines and resourcing figures.
If it takes 25 mins then so be it...stick your head above the firing line and see what a manager can and can't do.
If he says 14 mins tell him you'll do it....the minute he shows it can be done.

Re: The 'How was your D2D today?' thread
My manage will probably come in loaded on Red Bull and work like a demented fool just to prove the point. Of course, he cant do 5 d2ds in 14 minutes - but he will insist he could - lol.
The problem is, there is so much to fight for that if ones picks a fight or tries to enforce rights, the place will be a battle ground and the next time one makes a small mistake, DOM will be waiting with a conduct. And lets not kid ourselves that the Union can always help - we dont even have what I call a proper Union rep. BTW, I wont volunteer because my fellow postmen are very much divided, some not in Union, so will never take action and others are creeps and moles.

Re: The 'How was your D2D today?' thread
Some of us in our office had 6 sets of d2ds this week, and 1of mine turned up on thursday!! We only had 4 days at work this week, and with the sheer weight of the flats we have had this week, not to mention a shed load of mech letters coming up late. The problem we have when you get to 5+ d2ds is the prep time, even for a 1/6 that is due per day. We were told that in the future they will be put into one envelope? Also as said fitting all these leaflets into your frame with all the flats and letters is becoming increasingly difficult. When the walk sequencing machines evenually arrive in our office and are up and running i imagine we will have more time our hands to prep d2ds.

Re: The 'How was your D2D today?' thread
funny, ha ha!
Being modern postman does not mean I dont work to my contract and contractual hours. After all, the old farts/CWU have even agreed to us doing at least 30 minutes extra a day without notice.
D2d, I hate it but I do it as conscientiously as I can because it is part of the job and if I dont like it that much, I could always leave. What I disagree with is not being paid fully for the work I do as regards the d2d and the unfairness introduced. It is poss to in an office where a round gets more d2d consistently over a whole year and yet the postmen gets paid the same, add pro-rata and others in offices, MC, MDEC (prob) taking a cut out of our sweat...
I do my job well and do a bit more where needed. I am realistic and a lot more cooperative for the sake of my job, my colleagues, 'Royal Mail' and customers. We have people on rolling-contracts for more than 22 months - that is more of a big issue to me.
There are lots of important issues to address but our CWU and a few old hands are just more interested in self-interest. And they cannot even communicate the impt issues to the public at large. So the public continue to think we are lazy, money grabbers and all militants without a 'cause'.
Nobody talks about taking all comers but people need to stop thinking about the glory years of the Royal Mail and Union days.... I am a member of the CWU but having a strike around Xmas last year was shooting ourselves in the foot - just an example...

No 30 minutes a week and only for unseen circumstances and individual circumstances are to be taken into account - and you should get it back the same week.chrisj wrote:funny, ha ha!

Just because they are expecting a load of flats does not mean they can extend you 30 minutes every day or even 1 day in a week. High volumes are foreseen and are therefore "NOT" covered. Unforeseen is meant for, well situations that are not predictable, breakdowns (vehicles, machines and posties), major incidents, fire etc etc.
Now that I agree with.chrisj wrote:Nobody talks about taking all comers but people need to stop thinking about the glory years of the Royal Mail and Union days....

Same here but they are like tracing paper and last about 3.2 seconds in the rain - despite my best efforts I reckon about only 30% are readable once delivered.johnnyp wrote:2 lots for me this week.
