Labour Party Donations
Just having a little play around with the Election Commission website, and found that the CWU has donated over TWO MILLION pounds to the Labour party over the past three years. I'm not sure what we've had for our money, as I can't seem to remember the last time Labour took our side in anything at all. It seems to me THEY are responsible for the terrible state the RM is in today. Should we not stop giving them our hard-earned money? And I don't mean just calling up and stopping our individual dues from going to the Political fund, I mean lobbying the CWU to stop donating alltogether. Surely that money could be better spent on specific campaigns (Keep The Post Public &c), rather than funding a party that hasn't stood for (small L) labour in a decade...

Funding and affialtion fees are not classed as the same. I recall policy being to pay affilation fees but nowt else as its affialtion fees that allows us to operate inside the Labour party rather than donations.

Re: Labour Party Donations
I don't know how much "affiliation fees" are, but the same website is showing that the CWU has donated £574,453.70 just in 2010! And that's just donations to the National Party. Another hundred thousand or so was donated to various Constituency Labour Parties.
I just don't see why we feel we need to be part of this party, just to have a voice. We don't. And we certainly don't need THEIR voice. Especially as they are not going to be back in power for a good few years....
