It's 'Live' mail, deliver it the way he wants you to and if you have to cut off you cut off.

He's a RMC newbie,can't do my grab the s**t,prep the s**t speech............................yet.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Just like I have said in other posts, we in delivery have been well and truly screwed as regards d2ds. As the saying goes, there is nothing like a free lunch.

D2Ds are now live mail and the clients have paid for them, so they have to done one way or the other. The time they are received (&date/week stamp) will soon become a total irrelevance - we get paid for them, so we shall have to do them.

I just want to go back to getting paid for them on a piece-rate! Doing 6 (even at reduced rate) will have earned me a packet...

People not doing them on cover is rife. 24-hour folks not doing them because they spend a disproportionate amount of time throwing out nstead of bagging and going. And managers turning a blind eye when they have staffing issue is also something that happens. Good old Royal Mail - and this was supposed to make d2d more efficient and accountable - NOT!

Honest opinion - there is no room in a 24 (or 25) hour duty to complete a walk's worth of d2ds. I'm not even completely sure that there is enough room in a 25 hour duty to complete a walk on the heavy days. Unfortunately, Royal Mail takes advantage of its staff and bullies them into working for free to make the figures look like they work. Then the people who have the chutzpah to say no are treated like they're lazy because they can't clear the entire workload. It's a load of bull - most fittings over a week will have 30 hours worth of work in them no matter what anybody thinks. 5 d2ds is 2.5 hours work on prep alone and probably another 2.5 hours on delivery.

Not sure about 2.5 hours.

700 drops x 5 d2d = 3500 items

Average walk has 1000 regular items per day (allegedly).

We have 2 hours to prep our walks (throwing off only) so 3500 d2d should technically take 6.5 hours into a full frame.

As its live mail it should be treated no differently should it not?

We are given no extra time.

We're given no extra time either. I honestly couldn't say how long it takes though without getting a watch and timing it, but d2ds must take between 6 to 8 hours overall a lot of weeks.
