I spent 5 hrs trying to prep a walk! Unbundle 3/4 of it that did'nt get delivered yesterday(3 days worth) put it all back in the frame and then try and get todays stuff in the frame..........no f***ing chance! Ended up tying it back up with todays mech. Then started prepping it again with 9 trays of flats and 4 packet bags.....good luck to whoever is on it Monday, lets hope they see sense and work their hours. Could'nt even run a bath springs to mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

another shambolic day,very busy packets back to x mas levels ,8 out of 30 walks never got any or very little coded bundles,digital switch over letters for half my walk(got the other half yesterday).have been asked to deliver packets tommorrow.at least the snow seems to have stopped :Very Happy

Well it could be worse :left:

The letters were well down but this made no difference because of all the streamed mail around my frame :d'oh! The parcels and packets were no different to christmas and i had a van full. In the end i decided to stay out and clear the backlog for OT. Trouble is everyone has been coming in early all week to clear for no OT :no no

So its clear now for next week :pray

I'm completely clear today although it has been very busy this week.Today was not too bad,claimed about 6.30 o/t just by going over my time in total this week.
Some days this week seemed as busy as Xmas and we have d2d to do next week which in fact was this week's which turned up halfway through week which will mean 6 items or so next week.
Apologies for so many mentions of the word *week*.

I had 6 lots of D2D's this week and it prob put 30 mins on my already busy day. I am the same as you and have booked this week although i never normally do :d'oh! What a week :shock: i am just hoping it will ease back a little next week.

Busy day. Still delivering xmas cards. Some dated 8th December Mcr Mail Centre. :shock: Anway, gonna put my feet up tonight. I've finished today for a week and really need the rest. (and some SERIOUS beer time) :chuckle

Well where do I start... I've been battling all week and it ended today for 2 weeks of blissful leave. I've had a nightmare festive period at our office as I seem to be one of the few "Flexible" ones. Our office is badly short staffed to the point where if anyone at all goes sick we're screwed. As a reserve I'm used to being on different rounds all the time but the last month I've had different rounds on and off vans, rounds merged with other ones, been doing business deliveries and collections at the same time because it was so late. Often I was getting phone call 1/2 way through the day and everything would change.

The final straw was yesterday. I was on a back shift 1/2 way through delivering the businesses in the van and got a call at about 10:45. I was to do a walk after finishing that instead of doing the collections. So walk started at 2pm, after doing packets to houses (tracked and specials only). i was told to pull out the walk leaving enough DSA and non dated stuff to be able to complete the walk, as well as being able to deliver my own 1 1/4 hours of houses too. That was around 700 doors then. It was -4c and dark by 4pm so by the time I finished at 17:30 I was frozen and highly pissed off.

Today was a new day... or so I thought. I was determined not to work past my time today. I got put back on the same walk I streamed yesterday so had somewhere in the region of 110kg of mail. I was in at 6am and was sorting for 2 1/2 hours. About 1/2 was streamed and out I went out with 70kg in 4 inches of fresh snow at 9:30. Supposed to stop at 12:30. It didn't happen. :crazy:

As I was leaving I told the DOM that I don't want to work past my time any more today. I had a wee rant and also told him that RM had ruined my xmas and new year and also my plans for this afternoon. I said I was sick of running about like a headless chicken all the time just because I'm one of the few who is able to do 95% of the duties in the office. He was kind of taken aback as I'm usually quite a chilled out type. I'm pretty much beyond caring now to be honest. This job is buggered. I will be job hunting in this 2 weeks but don't expect to find much. Fun times.

It has taken me a dew days to recover from the relentless volumes of mail,

Yesterday it was a nightmare in our DO, they decided to bring in a lot of posties on o/t before duties started to prep flats,

as there was so much to do, it was just too much, so quite a few of us asked the lino what the instruction was , answer to take out everything including lapsing, so a lot of us said we would cut off, which we did when i came back to the office yesterday an half hour over my time there was loads of bags bought bag I bought two back and the lino's had gone home,
but one guy was going around saying I will do that tomorrow on o/T :arrrghhh (Today)
then another postie said they never bought anything back and also was taking home d2d to prep :d'oh!

I have my shift week off so pleased as my back was really hurtin

Off this week. Saw my postie this morning and he said the place is rammed. They've found a load of stuff in Manchester mail centre including specials that should have been delivered. :no no

The past two weeks have been the busiest I've known in my short time with RM. Yesterday, on what is normally an easy day we had 31 yorks of work. We were told that our backlog has now cleared so I'm hoping things will get back to normal sometime soon.
I staged a Roger Moore impersonator festival in my local village. There were a lot of eyebrows raised, I can tell you.

That's funny because we've been told the backlog at the MC has been cleared as well.
Co-ordinated lying or truth?
They told us that GMC was clear a couple of days before xmas. In fact it was so clear it had taken 2 million items from Edinburgh.
And then xmas eve happened ......again.
